HI

Guys its probably one of the worst days in my guitar history!

I've got monster cable since its been advertised as sturdy good cable but unfortunately after a year of home use (only 1 year?) the 45 degree connector fall into pieces destroying my magnetic stereo output :

And after 20 minutes i got it out but it wrecked one of the small parts inside the 1/4 jack :

Therefore my question and big hope in customer support if they can help me anyhow with this matter? I know i can count on you guys as you've helped me once with outstanding service like noone ever did!

And the worst thing is that this piezo output is one whole piece so its hard to replace only this one jack port! No to monster Connectors!

I don't think there's really anything any of us here can do. Your best bet is to call EB customer service and see what they say.

I've seen that happen with TONS of the Monster "rock" cables. It doesn't matter what brand or model of guitar, either.

I would be getting ahold of Monster Cable as well. Call their customer service and complain.

I would not only complain, I would be vicious... but in a civilized way.

I wouldn't PM them. It's Sunday and they'll likely get back to you tomorrow morning when they're in the office.

Did that actually ruin the jack? All the times I've seen this you've just had to pull the pieces out and everything was OK.

If it did damage the output jack then you should probably contact Strings and Things directly and go from there especially if it is in a warranty period, though not sure that would be covered under warranty.

I use Monster and have had zero issues and some are over three years old, though I do not use the 45 connectors dont like them on any cable.

The tip of 1/4 inch jack shown above simply ruined those sticks inside whilst i was pulling out the jack out and it stayed there and after I looked inside the metal that actually pushes tip was bent so I had to use dental pincers(very useful tool) to bend it slowly down and then i could pull out the rest of jack.

The problem with those sockets is that its one piece with other piezo socket and whole system so I would have to get whole double input with piezo eq to replace it.

I did not realize you were in the UK, sickindian. Definitely give Strings & Things a buzz.

I agree with you on that, Keith. I've never seen issues with the straight plugs, just the right-angle ones. It seems the joint where the plug attaches to the housing on the RA plug assembly is weak.

For what its worth, I've been using monster cables (the straight ones, not the angled ones) for about 4-5 years now and the only problem I've ever had was one shorting out after I rolled my amp over it. I took it to GC and it was replaced right away. I used the gold plated straight ones with my BFR in both jacks, and have never had a problem. I'd hit up S&T, or EB customer service and I'm sure they could get it fixed for you.

Other than their company's predatory legal practices... I won't buy their products for that reason alone.

Are they one of those large-ish companies that files meritless copyright/patent lawsuits just to eat up the smaller guys with legal fees? Or what's the deal?
