After reading beej and the Riot I checked out a 10min YouTube video by forum member vaisatchatrucci on the Suhr Riot Distortion Pedal. Sounded really good.

Sorry Brad, I should of mentioned you were the one who recommended the OCD to me. My bad.

No big deal, dude :D I will offer my opinion on gear to anyone who wants it. It's all about spreading the love of the instrument.

On another note. I need to check out this Riot pedal. Sounds cool.

Smellybum, I saw your video before starting this thread :p sounds great on cleans, how does it take effects pedals, I'm thinking at reverb, chorus, delay. have you tried? it does not have effects loop...
Anyone tried Blackheart little giant through the BH112 cab (12'' Eminence speaker).
I'm thinking buying that full small stack.

thanks.

paul

Hi Paul,
sorry for the delay, been in dentention! - you get a little bit of delay up to about 5 but after that it gets muddy - I use a rocktron short timer...

As for the 1x12 - nah - it's better with air - 4x12 everytime!

I'm back after some research :p
I've tried until now in the last 2 weeks:
pedals: Nova Drive, Marshall Jackhammer , Boss DS1 , DS2, Metal Muff,
I like Nova Drive & Metal Muff

amps: Blackstar HT5 stack, Marshall - that 5 w full valve.
Blackstar is nice, although it is what it is: a nice practice amp, it will not blow your mind, the tone is nice but you can not compare it to a real tube amp
Marshall - I did not like it at all, is sounded fuzzy (reminded me of cheap solid state amps) with or without the Jackhammer pedal

so I am thinking now this way: although I do not have any money now and I'll have to take another loan from bank  I think I will buy one of this 2 amps which seem to be a better option than blackheart + pedal:
Blackstar HT 5 or Egnater Rebel 20
with one of this 2 cabs
Welcome to Egnater Amplification
Blackstar Amplification - HT-212

in europe the price for the egnater 1X12 cab is 259 euro and for the blackstar cab 2X12 229 euro.
the blackstar cab says is voiced for their HT venue series heads.
do you think can this be a problem if I intend to buy egnater rebel head + the blackstar cab?

sorry for long message, I would really appreciate your feedback :)

Paolo, As long as the impedance of the speaker cabinet is compatible with the amplifier you choose, there shouldn't be an issue with getting the Egnater amp and the Blackstar cab.

Egnater site says regarding the head "output impedance: 4 Ohms, 8 Ohms Or 16 Ohms"

Blackstar cab specs says "8Ω Mono / 2x16Ω Stereo"

can you help me understand this? I suck at tech stuff...and I want to know if this 2 are compatible

No problem :D

The Egnater amp likely has a switch to choose between 4, 8, or 16 Ohms. In this case, you would choose 8 Ohms and plug into the Blackstar cab's mono input.

***Edit I just looked up the Rebel 20 on Egnater's site. It has 3 separate outputs. You would use the center, 8 Ohm output and plug it into the 8 Ohm mono input on the Blackstar cab.

many thanks man :)

and that input of the cab "2x16Ω Stereo" ? what is that for? :D

That cab has two 16 Ohm speakers in it, so you have a few ways it can be wired up.

If you want to use each speaker separately (stereo), you'd need a second amp. Then each speaker would be 16 Ohms.

In mono, you're plugging one amp into the cab and powering both speakers at the same time. In that case it's 8 Ohms. (8 Ohms is what you get when you wire two 16 Ohm speakers in parallel.)

many thanks beej and bkrumme :) all clear now (got it: I will plug out from the 8 ohm head output to the 8 ohm cab input)

now regarding the heads, what can you say?
I can't find any good review on youtube for rebel 20 at room level vol - metal tone

at low vol it seems the HT 5 has a more saturated powerful metal tone than the rebel 20
I tried the HT 5 stack ,but I can judge the Rebel 20 in this comparison only from the youtube videos :(
