Just got my first Music Man guitar in today, a used Transparent Purple with a great top and in great condition. Obligatory pics will come later once the sun goes down but the thing is beautiful.

I either connect with a guitar right out of the box or I don't. This thing is a definite winner. Wow, damn. I'll post more impressions later but I'm going to go play some more first.

Seems to me that these may be very under-rated guitars.

A nice guitar. Unplugged it has a nice acoustic resonance but not hollow sounding. Plugged in to the Splawn Quick Rod it is a terrific sound. The pickups aren't too hot nor too cold, feedback stays very much under control. I'm not particular about necks, big, small, it doesn't matter, I just play them. This one is definitely small but super comfortable. I love the snappy sound of maple fretboards. This guitar is almost perfectly intonated, something I can not say about most that I own. I have Ibanez Jems, Ibanez JS-series, a Gibson Les Paul, Flying V and Explorer, Fender Strats, and Jackson RR1, some of which I like very much but this guitar seems like it might be the winner in the all around category.

The only think I don't like is having to take the back plate off to undo the tremolo arm. I do keep most of my favorites on hangers but this makes it hard to put it in and take it out of the case frequently. Can the trem arm socket be relaced with a standard screw arm assemby? If so I'm definitely going to pick one up.

Frankly it blows my Les Paul Axcess at twice the price out of the water. That's a nice guitar but mine is flat and wonky sounding. I'll give it a few days but that one may have to go to help fund this purchase.

I'm really glad I discovered these, more are likely to be in my future.

The flash shows lots of imperfectiosn that can't be seen with the naked eye but it is used so to be expected.

Under normal light it is a dark, grape jelly color, the flash brings out the flame though.

The guitar has a really cool "thump" to it. Anyone who has one probably knows what I'm talking about.

The EBMM case is designed with space for the attached trem bar, so you shouldn't need to take the bar out unless you have a different brand of case. It's one of my favorite "little things" they do.

As far a replacement arm, I'm not sure, but I'm sure others will help out...

I dream of a Purple Axis - I think it's just about the best color to my eyes, and that top suits it perfectly. Good score.

Nice find. You have now joined the Music Man family by getting your first MM guitar. Just try and make it your last, I dare you.

Thanks for all the comments, I really am psyched. Another cool thing is the super slick and comfy neck surface. Sticky nitro finishes like on my Gibson and Jackson are annoying.
