I posted a few weeks ago that I bought a used ASS but it didnt come with the original p/u's. GC has another ASS used but not as nice as the one I have. Having played both the stock p/u's absolutely kill and its bugging me that mine does not. Should I trade for the other one or keep hoping that I will find some ASS p/u's somewhere down the road.

I'd probably trade it because I like instant gratification. If you wait you will probably be able to find the pickups eventually but who knows how long it will take and they are generally pricey.

Another option to consider is returning the guitar to GC (sounds like you're within the return period still) and buying an entirely different used ASS from the for sale thread or somewhere else. Let us know where you're located and what colors you like and I bet some folks on here might be able to help point you in the right direction of some cool guitars.

Do the two guitars really 'feel' that different? Unlike alot of other guitar brands, I find EBMM to be remarkably consistent.

I’m guessing you’ve already been told about Air Norton & Tone Zone as replacements?

yes i have read the posts on here about using those for replacments but the reviews dont seem to support the use...what about the 36th anniversary PAF's

idea

Why not buy the GC guitar with the pickups that you like and then install them into your guitar that is in the better shape?:)
You can then sell off the second guitar.
Just a thought

Ditto! If I close my eyes and play my new ASS or my '02 Axis, I can't tell the difference if I don't reach for the tone knob or the whammy bar. Feel-wise, anyway. Now that's consistency!

If I'm not mistaken, Jamie Humphries has the 36th PAFs in the Axis SS which he plays in this video. Sounds good. :)
