I actually hope it's just going to be a simple maple top with basswood body and mahogany toneblock and front mounted pickguard.

With a roasted maple neck... and a HH configuration... and a 25th Anniversary switching system... and a piezo... and FACTORY INSTALLED STRAP LOCKS!!!!!

Oh what the heck... Throw in the kitchen sink too!

Just imagine: Silo Special body HSS with vintage white pearl guard, mahog tone block, flamed maple vintage sunburst top, roasted maple neck/fretboard (ridiculous birdseye or flame).

That's what I'm imagining at least hehehe. I'll keep dreaming until they come up with something awesome...probably not what I'm imagining hahaha.

my guess is.... umm... it will be better than what any of us can dream up... BP and crew seem to have that ability to set our expectations high and then go even higher than what we thought was possible...

i was around when BFR was first mentioned and that's all BP said... nobody knew what it meant here on the forum and BP was taking guesses... some got close on the name but as far as what it meant instrument wise... i think we have been and continue to be... BLOWN AWAY every time...

and if you remember the 20th... when talks of that surfaced... nobody knew what it was going to be... but we knew it would be special... and man did it blow away all expectaions i could even dream up... and now that i have one... it's the best guitar ever...

The 20th Silhouette is still by far the best guitar I have played to date (personally of course), even over the 25th, HH AL and JPX. I just LOVE the simpicity of it but at the same time it is an insane tone machine. At first I didnt like the look of it...its a mental block when it is something you dont expect, your brain does not know how to process the information and make sense of it. Of course I ordered one after several weeks of its introduction and it is the ONE guitar I will NEVER part with.

So if the goal is to come up with something even better than the 20th in terms of tone and looks, I think we may be in for a treat!

I have had 3 20ths at one go. Today, I don't have a single one left. Why? simple. It couldn't deliver the tones I was after.

The piezo tone was utterly whacked by my JP6. Somehow the piezo sounds a lot bigger with basswood than on that cocktail of tonewoods on the 20th. The Silhouette Specials I had, with just plain alder, out toned the 20th anyday, especially after I had done some mods to it. The piezo on the 20th meant that I couldn't really modify it much. The other 2 non-piezo ones were a lot more convenient for mods.

But I eventually realised that the combo of alder/maple/mahogany somehow made the tone a bit more "focused", and coupled with the 25.5" scale, it made the whole thing very tight. I like something a bit bigger and looser.

All in all I couldn't find a place for it in my whole tonal palette. Actually, if not for the body carve and the piezo tone, even the JP6 is testing my patience. My Silhouette Specials just have everything I want, and more. Between those, my Les Pauls and my Strats, I've got all the tones I need.

There was sadly no place for the 20th.

However, should the 20th Silo Spec come with a basswood/maple body, toneblock or no, then that will be the ultimate Silo Spec for me. ESPECIALLY if it came chambered with F holes and a piezo!

Meaning, a Silo Spec that can deliver not only the traditional strat tones, with the right pup config, not only a LP-type, but even a semi-hollow tone or even an acoustic would be possible!

Lionel, it's unfortunate that you did not get along with the 20th Silo and its tone. It's hard to believe, but everyone has their preferences of course. My ears hear a nice resonant punchy and clear tone...you cant compare this guitar to the Gibbs and Strats. But I do agree that the Silo Special is just an awesome guitar.
