I've been here for almost five years, and in that time I've made some great friends (some still imaginary, but I've met a lot of you too), and I've also been fortunate enough to chip in to help out a few ppl who for one reason or another were down on their luck. And the thing that keeps me coming back is the genersoity, the camraderie and the spirit of this forum, a spirit I know no other forum that has.

Anyway, the above rant is just my long way of getting around to saying a big thankyou to some of the cool guys here:
ivbenaplayin, who upon seeing my wtb for a black Bongo HH pickguard decided to give me one, a new one no less, for free!
Silverburst , who sent me a whole box of fun a while back, thanks Rex!
JohnnyBoy, finder of the amazing felt picks!
GrandWazoo sent his girlfriend running all over london to get the painkillers my gf likes the best, Thanks Fran!
And Smellybum5150 stripped last year just so that I could wear the "That Bottom Sucks" t-shirt! Drove the girls mad, seeing him half naked;-)
All the people that have been taking part in the Blue Dawn Bongo HSp tour of the UK, thanks guys!
BlindLemon at Strings & Things, who has arranged a couple real cool bashes in the UK!
BigPoppa of course, for making this place what it is!
And Bovinehost, Jack you know I love you!
I'm sure I've forgotten more than a few, but know that I really appreciate it all!

This forum ROCKS!

As you can see by my location, its a bit (one side of the Atlantic to the other) (I'm English by the way) but the reason for that is my sweetheart, future Mrs-danny-79 lives on the other side of the Atlantic in Denver, so on my last visit over the pond i hooked up with another forum member "57fenderjazz" who passed me on a second addition to my E.B family (my traveling Ray as i like to call it now), we hooked up after the sale of the bass (with talk about E.Bs in mind) and had a good night out watching his band "idiotfish", (the link is in signature, check it out if you haven't already) ( or here http://www.myspace.com/idiotfishmusic ) and to this day is still a good friend on here.

Christmas time i got a gift of "Spuds Xmas-on-line bash", (just by posting ???, at the right place and time), a signed picture of Albert Lee and a couple of flat pics, it looks good framed and hung on the wall next to a signed pic of "Mr Jim Marshall" that i got at a guitar show in Birmingham in 2002,

And apart from that countless amount of advice and suggestions from others

I'm +1 one with strummer, this forum rocks!
Thanks,
Dan.

This forum.....yeah, it does. It does rock. The people I know! The basses I have! The parties (big and small) that we've had!

People make snide remarks elsewhere about how it's a clique or a religion or how insular it is - and maybe it is, to an extent.

But it's been a very good place to be for a very long time. We must be doing something right.

May all of my EBMM Forumite friends have a wonderful weekend.

Jack

My family as well has been very touched by this forum. I am new here and just got my first Music Man a month ago. At the same time, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and the outpouring from this forum has been amazing! From BP agreeing to make the breast cancer awareness bass to Beaver at Bass Central to the countless other members of this site that generously donated to our relay for life team, wished us well, prayed for us and kept us in their thoughts. I truly hope when the time comes, I too can repay all of you for the generosity and kindness you have all shown to my family even though I am new here.

With all of that aside, this is also a great forum just for the knowledge you can gain from here. I love the fact that I can run the serial number of any Music Man on here and get it's date of birth, see all of the finishes available, get input from the owner of the company and other employees and so much more. BP really has done a fantastic job of making this site what it is.

Yes haha, that was a funny one, strummer wanted some Panadol for his missus, as they are not available in Norway, so I called my gf and told her, "do us a favor, luv, pop down the chemist and get me 6 boxes of Panadol the biggest box they do, please" - Ok - she said.

These are avaialble over the counter in UK without prescription but a chemist (drug store) get suspicious when you want to buy 6 tubs of 32 pills in one go and they would only sell her one packet, in case she was planning to make a deadly cocktail of them! Anyway long story short, she's had to get in her car and drive to 6 different chemists for me. :D

All 4 of my current MM basses were purchased from this forum and its members. Every deal was silk smooth with no hassle, good prices, and great basses that obvioulsy have had TLC. This forum does rock.

Just yesterday I received a PM from ivbenaplayin saying that he and his wife were going to be in Fort Myers, FL over the weekend and he expressed an interest in coming to one of my gigs here in the Tampa Bay area. He included his cell phone number and we spoke a few times. Unfortunately, it's about a three hour drive to Tampa Bay from Fort Myers so we never connected but we definetly plan to the next time he's in Florida.

He's the first (and hopefully not the last) forum member that I've actually spoken with and he seems like a real nice guy!

This forum is way cool!

This forum rocks because of BP and the moderators being such incredible human beings. I have only met nice people on here and have made friends in distant places. The highlight of my day is coming on here. Thank God for this forum!

Awww, Shucks!
I can tell you guys are great, even though I've never met you in person.:)
I just feel the sense of "the brotherhood of bassists" and as I said in a post before... Thanks BP & crew... not only for providing the great instruments, but this forum as well. I think people around here realize that this forum truly is a great source of information, as well as a great way to show off our EBMM stuff and talk smart...;)

BTW... Nick, you must spend a small fortune on sunscreen - man is it HOT down here! (either that, or you're a vampire that only comes out at night :D)
