Thanks to Nick, (somb), for pointing it out to me, The Perfect Bass have pics of the exact specs Big Al 5 which I have on order, with the exception of the pickguard, (mine will be plain white and this one is white perloid).

But these pics should give you (and me) an accurate idea of what my bass will look like, I think I've made a good choice, she looks sexeeeeeeeyy in that little red number!! ;) arf arf!!

All these premature photos... harumph. First SOMB, now you. Seems like cheating to me. It's like those questionable ebay auctions where the seller just uses a manufacturer's photo.

This bass does not exist until we see it in your sweaty, shaky, MM-addicted hands, and nothing can convince me otherwise.

Well adouglas you are right... it wasn't until I received a pm from SOMB to show me, "Hey Fran look, they've got your exact same specs on TPB" I am calm and composed, and yes soon as my bass arrives real pics will follow:

Meantime all I have as proof is the purchase receipt:

Hey, Fran!

Our basses also seem to be separated at birth, just like you and I!

Fran - remember when I was pestering you to try out the Big Al at "Music Live '09" ?

Who would have thought it eh!!!

Yes they had that lovely sunburst 4 strings with S/S/S. Actually that is where the love started, although back then we didn't know a 5 strings was going to be launched, and after that happened, both the bank manager and the missus gave the green light. (This has been a good year for us sea men, lots of business, despite the recession ships will always carry goods and we are always in demand)

Love the bass Fran :)

Is this classed as a fictional bass, or an almost fictional bass  - not sure what the NPNB forum 'rules' are these days

Whatever, thanks for posting Fran - you picked a great combination, as did SOMB.

I'm sure that pics will be added as soon as bass arrive! ;)

Anyway, looks much better to me than RW FB version, only I prefer matching headstock, but that's very subjective opinion!

Congrats!

I gig four to five nights a week (either Wed. thur Sat. or Wed. thru Sun.) and I have the wonderful dilemma of trying to decide what bass I want to play on any given night.

Because of this thread, I've decided to play my Big Al 5 single H tonight at one of our gigs where we do the three-piece version of our band.
Before leaving this afternoon for set-up/sound-check I raised the pickup a little and once I was at the venue I boosted the bass, low-mid and treble controls a little from my previous settings.
HELLO!
