Hang on to your hats boys....there is a Lake Placid Blue Stingray Classic at the GC in Raleigh, NC! Beautiful Birdseye neck and Rosewood board. Sounded frigging awesome through an SWR Redhead they had. I managed to take a couple of pics and will upload when I get in. Using my Droid at the moment. I even got a pic of the hang tag that clearly says LPB just in case someone thinks I am nuts. They also had a black/maple. Classic as well that was sweet. The LPB would get the nod if I were going to buy one. I have my buddy looking for me a Big Al while I wait for the Classic to be released in Natural....

Peace,

T

Okay, now this is fun. It's like a treasure hunt only it makes you poorer everytime you find the prize!

Sounds like a little ride is in order. Only about 20 minutes from work for me.

If you decide to buy something be sure and ask for Michael Thrower who is up in pro audio. Tell him T 3 sent you and to tgreat you right...I guarantee you will not find a better price if you do. He is off on Sunday and Monday and works until 6 most other days...good luck! You won't be sorry you made the trip...

Peace,

T

Are you sure it's LPB and not Powder Blue? LPB is not listed as one of the Classic colors.

I am absolutely positive that it is LPB. No mistaking it from eyeballing it but even the hang tag clearly says Lake Placid Blue. I have owned at least 2 dozen LPB instruments over the years and there is no question for me. This is not in the same area code of the Powder or Sonic Blue.... pics coming as soon as I can post them when I get home. I even took a pic of the tag...

Peace,

T

LPB Classic 'Ray is AWESOME!

I live in Southern Cal. and I bought a black classic Stingray with a highly figured maple neck about a week ago. I loved everything about it but had some trouble with the high-end being a little too choked. I went back to the local GC today and AB'd it with two more maple neck models (one was Candy Red) and a Lake Placid Blue/Rosewood board model. They had a Shell Pink but I wasn't interested...maybe with a RW board but it looked blahh with maple. The LPB Rosewood bass blue everything away so that's what's sitting next to me now. The finish is beautiful - even looks like aged Ocean Turquoise in certain lighting conditions. I'll post some pics when I can.

I see why you picked the lpb. Beautiful!

Thanks! The flamed maple neck on the black one was jaw-droppingly beautiful but this blue one had way better tone. The rosewood board is very dark and I'm soooo glad they put the mutes back on! I used to use my Rickenbacker 4003 mutes all the time. Great feature.

Are the lpb going to be a limited color option or are they going to be part of the rotation of colors that classic may or may not have? Ive finally got a job and want to order one but if these are not easily gotten I will go for the ivory white.
