Long weekend of gigging out of town in South Carolina. I brought all 3 of my Stingrays. The drummer and I play in a rockin' country band and a church band together. So Thursday night I played my teal SR4, friday and saturday night I played the sunburst SR4 with the teal ready as a back up since we had to play 3 hour long sets those 2 nights and then as soon as we got done playing at 2am Saturday night/Sunday morning, we loaded up the trailer and hauled it back the 5 hour drive to Gainesville, Ga. 4 out of the 5 members in the country band had Sunday morning church gigs. We got into Gainesville around 730am. I played the black fretless yesterday morning at church like I always do and afterards the drummer told me that is the best sounding bass that I own. This drummer uses in ear monitors only and was able to compare all 3 bass guitars. He told me it has this unique growl and deepness to it that my other 2 fretted basses do not have. He loved it and said it was one of the best sounds he's heard in a long time. There is just something about those fretless musicman basses I guess cause everyone seems to notice mine.:D

It's a smaller church in Gainesville, Ga near Rabbit Town called Lifepoint...I'm right now just a fill in until the main guy gets back from touring but I might be on a rotation at that point. It's a good church, good people but I live in Roswell and the drive can become a killer every week...

Very interesting!

I'm gonna buy a fretless EBMM for sure once, it's just a matter of time!

One more thing, ...You've refreshed my memories, ...when I was young bassman, I played in the Church too! Great experience for sure, even if I don't visit church so often any more...

My bandmates are all bummin' that my fretless SR5 Hp is out of commission for a few weeks while it undergoes repairs. They like it way better than the Sterling 5 HH.

Me, I like 'em both for different reasons. The Sterling is my go-to for more aggressive rockers, and when I have to do some serious business way up the neck (that way I don't have to get my boxers in a knot over my intonation). But when I want to do something really expressive, or when we're doing ballads or newgrass or more old-timey stuff, nothing beats the fretless 'Ray.

the fretless tone wise just seems to stand out more, could be why:)
