...It would be an exact copy of an EVH or Axis... I really have no need for any other guitars... (ok, maybe a Silhouette)
It is the most well designed, comfortable, easy to play, good looking guitar on the market. In my own personal opinion.

Just an excuse to post some pics....

What would yours look like if you could design your own guitar...?

MY Guitar

I would want a Sub 1 body in black with a flamed out birds eye neck with a maple board.
Add the gotoh floyd with a HSS pickup set up and two toggles.
One to switch between the bridge and neck and the other to add the middle pickup when I want it.
Make the pickguard flat black and that would do it.
Oh yeh, an Axis humbucker in the bridge pos.
Yea, I thought about this before!:D
Cheers

Well the EVH is a really nice guitar

but to answer your question, if I could design a guitar it would be SSS with a b bender that didn't involve routing out a huge chasm in the back.
It would have to have a Piezo too!

No Floyd, but my Sub is close!

My next project will be Axis-based.

I just love the Axis neck.

Shame I like to mod so much; i'd probably ruin a BFR with well intended meddling.

I have loved the Axis since 05. Just a bit bigger body was what I wanted.

... and along comes the Reflex. Bam!

Koa JP6 with 5-way switch. Koa JPX BFR?

Think this guitar belongs to a forum member, don't know who. Found it on google.

Funnily enough, I was actually just gonna go play around in Illustrator/Pshop to see if I could render up my dream EBMM. Ive got a few pictures I'll base it off of but it'll be cool to see this rendered up.

What kind of maple neck is on your Sub?

Where'd you get the neck? A Silo Special?

Maple Axis Sport neck, sourced from a fellow knucklehead.

A tiny touch narrower at the heel than the Sub neck, but it plays like a dream.

Was done for fun really, the plan is to reinstate the Sub neck before dreaming up the next mod project.

That Koa Petrucci with a neck the same specs of an Axis would be the ultimate guitar for me. Even though I am not crazy for the neck on my Petrucci I still held onto it as everything else was perfect, but I just wish it had a little more beef to the neck. Some artist designed there guitars very different from what they started out originally playing.

Vanhalen played Strat style guitars with a bucker yer his first artist series that he had input in the EVH, had a body that was smaller than a Strat and more Tele like which is why it is probably my favorite guitar ever since I was a long time Tele player and kind of felt right at home. On the other hand Steve Morse started out for those who remember playing a suped up Tele back in the day yet he made a guitar more similar to a Strat in body size and what is really strange is where he has his volume and Tone knobs situated=very un Tele player like. I can speak from experience that I would rather have my volume and tone knob as far away from the bridge as possible for what is for me the most comfortable configuration since my picking hand is usually always riding the bridge. On my main Strat I have the volume knob and pot totally removed and the guitar rewired=thank you Danny Gatton for that one.lol But I see players like Petrucci and Paul Gilbert also like the knobs out of the way as you can tell by there signature guitars. All in all it is just a matter of getting used to each guitars configuration. When I bought my first Vanhalen I wished the volume knob was just a bit off to the side more then one day I decided to pick like Eddie with my thumb and middle finger and discovered that way it is as if there is no knob at all on the guitar as it is right in the middle of your index and ring finger. So more than anything else I think if we all had a chance to have our own artist guitar there would be some wild Body, volume and tone knob, toggle switch, and pick up configurations more than anything.

Sometimes I wish the Axis Super Sport had a tremolo similar to that of the JP6. The responsiveness of the trem on that is really nice (in my opinion) for everything from subtle vibrato to an occasional dive bomb. I rarely use the whammy though, so I don't really mind but if I could afford a custom that's the only thing I'd change :3

The thing is when I use a trem I really like the vibrato you can get when you slightly pull up and down on it...I find it's a bit more "natural" sounding and is quite pleasant whereas just being able to pull down kind of ruins that effect. Great guitar though..going to go put another payment on my future ASS!

If I'm not mistaken the JPX is already BFR in itself so it'd just be JPX Koa(or Koa JPX if you want color first :p). And you can count me in on that one! That'd be an awesome guitar.. nomnomnom.

i would prefer a blend between the old EVH, the Y2D and the classic JP....
the neck of the EVH with 24 frets, the body of the EVH with the arm contour (maybe a bit smaller) of the JP, piezo like the JP has, the PUP configuration of the Y2D and purple sunset on a nice quilttop like on the Y2D....
something like that would be my dream...but overall all of the above named guitars are awesome as they are.

You can set up the vintage trem to float slightly and it works perfectly. The LUKE is set up to float from the factory and Luke uses it all the time without problems. I myself have my Silo Special and 20th Silo set up to float, since I also like the feel of being able to pull up and down.
