I have an Axis in Translucent Gold and I love the guitar and the color is great but I am curious about why in some pictures on the internet, that color looks more yellow than others. My Axis looks more orange than yellow. Do the Translucent Gold finishes vary?

I would say the EBMM color is fairly consistent guitar to guitar. What is not in the pics are the cameras used, resolution, and lighting, which IMO is the main reason for the appearance of the color variations.

Mine is more of an amber color then what you traditionally see as the trans gold... it has looked like that since day 1. So yes, there is some variance... same as some of the blues going from light to dark... its the individual piece of wood that is the cause, IMHO...

Color

I have a trans gold Axis that is a lighter yellow and I have a student that has one that is very orange looking.
As with ANY trans color the color of the wood that the top is made from will have an effect on the final color of the guitar.
You are seeing the color of the natural wood through the color coat.
I see this all the time on many high end guitars.
I like this effect because each guitar is different.:)
Enjoy

From my experience all trans colors vary on all models, many factors as mentioned, and trans gold seems to vary the most, mine is the almost orange look, while I seen it go from very light yellow looking to orangeish gold, pretty much the norm I think:)

I concur that the type and color of wood coming from under the stain is what is causing the differential in color. I would have sworn that mine was Trans Orange, but the official color is Trans Gold. The quilted maple under the finish must be quite dark.

This pic was taken with a 8MB Kodak camera with no flash in max resolution (has been shrunk to a non ridiculous size).
