What?

The AL HH will have the standard vintage trem brass block.
It will be totally different to a floyd block though.

You're EVH always had a sustain block.

Nice block of metal but tell us about the benefits...is it just sustain or does it alter the tone & feel. Plus does this restrict your Floyds movements being that its bigger?

No it doesnt make a difference to movements. It only goes down anyway. It could stand to have it wider and thicker still I think.

Well why post it then?

On top of that it looks a hard tail bridge so whats it got to do with a tremolo thread?

I believe you left the kitchen sink out you're sig btw...

Feel better now...?

"Its not a EBMM though is it?"

I put that picture in because unlike you there may be some people you aren't as versed as you are in knowledge of what a sustain block is.

"24/11/1999 Axis Supersport Trans Gold Vintage Tremolo - Graphtech Nut & Tremsetter
21/09/2001 Axis Supersport Pearl Blue Number ? of 125 Rosewood Hardtail
06/08/2003 Axis Tobaccoburst - Coil Tapped, Signed by Pablo Gilberto & Signed/Played by Vinnie Moore
20/08/2004 Sub1 Guitar Cinnamon Humbucker & DP205 Hardtail (Also turns Green with envy)
28/06/2005 Silhouette Black HSH Maple Vintage Tremolo - Coil Tapped"

I also didn't get the rule book about the perfect amount in the signature, like yours must be.

I applogize to all I have offended with my original post and my signature...

The reason why he asked why you posted it is because there is a rule about posting non EB stuff. The pic of the block is ok because it's just a block but sad to say the guitar is a no no. I am sure you didn't know the rule but figured I'd let you know.

Cheers

Seems you don't know your 80s guitars - the name Hamer gave for their string-through bridge is the "Sustain Block Bridge"; so named because the saddles are oversized and the base plate is a thick piece of either steel or brass (I can't remember which it was). Hamer used this on all their stop-tail guitars from 1978-circa 1986/87 when Hamer discontinued making their set-neck models and were only making guitars with Floyds. The exception to this was the Hamer Standard - their flame-topped Explorer model - which used a tune-o-matic. Hamer even had a trem version of the Sustain Block for a while in the early-mid 80s.

Its still a hardtail and doesnt have a sustain block in the true sense.
Every strat style hardtail string thru type bridge has a metal baseplate.
Even the EBMM hardtail design is based on a strat style hardtail bridge.

Azazael - What size replacement block do you suggest for the Axis? I'm looking at them now on Ebay. Thanks for the help!

Standard block is 40mm but a 42 mm will be fine.
They are all the same size its just the height that differs (from underside of trem to backplate)

There is plenty of room anyway and if you are like me you never put a back plate back on anyway.

There prices are too high but you can check out stock & watch demos...

floydupgrades.com

Ye ridiculous prices.
$24 off ebay.

Although I like the extended width one that covers under the tremolo arm section of the trem. Although that might be very impractical on a Gotoh trem and it doesn't seem like its available for Gotoh anyhow.
