Group pic of basses that did not sell. You can tell that the prototype SR4 (black pup) sold at Bass Player Live last year is a slightly different shade of green than the final production Classic Deluxe color.

Okay, I gave her the nice low set up I like. The mute pads will need to be trimmed if I want to go lower (that's how low it is!). Everything is still buzz free and the B string rings clear and defined. Like I said earlier, it sounds just like a Ray with 5 strings. Boost the trebs and bass and you get the unmistakeable SR4 slap tone. That alnico pick up must be the secret!

The radius doesn't feel any different and the string spacing feels no tighter nor wider all across the neck. I'm still two minds about the gloss finish. Just when I start thinking I like it, I pick up my bare necked Ray or Big AL and realize that I am probably 70/30 in favor of oil/wax. But that is me and it doesn 't take away from the flawless finish and craftmanship lavished on this bass.
My primary concern about an SR5, the weight, turned out to be a non issue as this thing weighs about as much as a 4 banger. No boat anchors here

Nice basses - the neck on the Classic 5 is terrific.

Seeing the Classics side by side, the body sizes look to be the same - just different neck pocket for the wider neck and bigger bridge?
