Yes, I agree... Read the post that was left for me before you judge this non sense. The guy acted like an A**H**e.... So he was treated like one. Once fine, Twice...is BullSh*t.

Man just let it go, is pointless for you to try to argue with someone (whoever it is) that has a negative attitude, like i said, lets continue with the thread. :)

I'm 48. Started playing electric at 17. Played in several bands beginning at 19 until present. I still play everyday and out about once a week. My greater joy comes now in encouraging and helping the next generation learn the instrument. I mentor/coach/instruct several younger players at this time.

Hi,

I startet at the age of 7 with classical guitar. When I became 11 I added electric guitar. I played all time, both, electric and classical guitar, and with 12 I told my parents that I after school want to become a professional musician.
Today I'm 26 and have the greatest job in the world, I am a guitarist :)!!

Cheers...

No worries there. I've been playing longer than I care to think about, and I still suck. :D I figured out a long time ago that I was never going to be a great player, but as long as I enjoy it, I'll keep playing.

Started plunking around on Mom's kay acoustic at 13,but got my first real electric guitar(a huge cherry burst Hondo II jazzbox)3 weeks before my 16th b'day, joined my first band at 16 and started formal lessons so technically I guess I started at 16.I took lessons for 3 years then struck out on my own.I eventually started taking lessons here and there from players/teachers that were more experienced and played stuff that I wanted to learn but spent most of my time learning from books, cassette courses and, once I could afford a vcr, video lessons:eek:!
After 28 years I'm still an active musician and I still try to play the guitar everyday...even if it's only for a few minutes.
More than 25 years ... holy **** I feel old !
+1 Right there with you
The longer I play, the more I realize there's more to learn
Yup....think I practice more now than I did 20 years ago.

I started at 13 with an old acoustic guitar which was my sister's (only had the 6th string lol).

So far... I've been playing for 14 by now. Damn, time flies! Wish I had more time to practice sometimes.

I played the trumpet (cornet) for a few years as a youngster and quit as soon as I could. I still had a love for music, though, and was enamored with the guitar. When I was 21 I bought a 1993 Ibanez RT 150 (MIJ). My roommate was a Strat guy and he taught me how to play basic chords. I went to college, I got married, and I refused to give the instrument the dedication it required so it sat in the corner collecting dust.

Fast forward through a divorce (and now have a couple kids) and I had a desire to pick it up again so I did. This time I took it far more seriously, bought some real equipment (which I think helps) and started taking lessons. I'd say that I have been fairly serious about playing now for 18 months or so while rolling up on 10 months or so of lessons 1 time per week.

I try to play daily.

LOL thanks, I feel better now and yes I too realized I would never be great, but it is a hobby and something I enjoy which in the end is all that matters:)

I started playing when l was 10 years old, l'm almost 32. I started playing guitar cause a mate was taking lessons, so l thought "Why Not?!?!?!" then l heard Steve Lukather's songs "Drive A Crooked Road" and "Twist The Knife" and it blew me away and l knew l wanted to get to that level of playing, l'm still working on it, i don't get to play as much as l want to and l want to get a band going, but there are too many work commitments.

Scott.

As a child of the 60s and in college 68-72, guitar was sort of mandatory. But I never had any lessons. Learned a few chords, that was about it. But two years ago, at age 58, I started taking lessons and have been since. Keith Baim lent me a guitar for about the first year. Then bought a JP6 and recently a Luke. I now have 2 balls and I suck less.
