Special order Stingray Classics: Did you have a Choice on the Neck?

To those of you that ordered a Classic through a retailer, did you have a choice on the maple used on the neck? I really want to get one with the gorgeous flame figure like you see on the photo threads here. I realize the amount of figuring varies and some are birdseye while others are flame. When I asked the store owner if I could get a flame neck vs a birdseye he said "I don't really get much choice with these guys. I get what I get".

Not initially, until I made it clear to the dealer that I wanted birds-eye. They weren't aware there was a choice but then asked for it when they checked.

The torture threads about the Classics mentioned this feature and the choice (backed up with some help on build codes from Pete duBaldo - v helpful guy - cheers Pete) hence us Knuckleheads knowing.

EBMM - this feature and availability/choice is not clear on the website either -sorry to moan but it's true

I'm patiently waiting on my coral red..........

Flame or Birdseye is definitely a choice that you can specify when ordering your Classic.

Better they know what's going on though - if us Knuckleheads are/were having a problem with dealers knowing this, imagine how someone without such 'inside' knowledge would fare trying to place an order.

Fact is these things are a great product and idea and EBMM deserve to sell tons of them - just a communication glitch I guess

When I ordered my shell pink Classic, I was able to order it with the birdseye maple. I went through Bass Central and had no issues at all. The all white Classic that I was recently looking at, at Guitar Center had the flamed maple neck and it looked really good too.
