Just recieved my new Luke guitar which is awesome. Last night tried it out at a gig and found that the nines (strings) that came with the guitar feel funny since I am used to 10s on my strat. Is there an issue going to 10s on the LUKE and will I have to have my new LUKE setup to use 10s. Also, the case I recieved with the guitar is very disappointing. The guitar flops around in the case.

I switched to 10's on my Luke over a year ago...no problems at all, in fact even better. Switching to 10's actually took care of the buzz I was getting on the low E.

Probably need a neck adjustment and def need a spring adjustment. But I would just put the strings on it, adjust the springs to coompensate for more tension from the strings, and wait and see on the neck. I've switched guages and sometimes not needed a neck adjustment.

Or just take it to someone;)

Going to 10's should not be an issue, might need a slight truss rod tweak thats about it, no spring adjustment needed unless you do not want a floating bridge.

Now on the case find this strange and your the second one lately to metion this, I have and have owned alot of EBMM's never had this issue with any case, just bought a new Luke and no issues with it flopping in the case.

Well as already stated if you are going to have the bridge floating a small truss rod adjustment will probably be needed. I could not answer your second question as I do not own a Luke and as fing pointed out this is the second time someone mentioned this in a week about the guitar moving in the case, but never heard of this before this week by any Luke owners and fing has had more than his share of them. Are you removing the trem bar when putting the guitar away? Also is it a lot of movement like it is knocking back and forth.

Changing from 9's to 10's shouldn't be a problem.I switched to 10's and the nut slots were fine.I tune to Eb so the tremolo and intonation were virtually unchanged in the process. If you're going to tune in standard with 10's you'll want to have the intonation, trem spring tension and truss rod adjusted to compensate.
As far as the case issue...I have noticed the same thing with all 3 musicman guitars I've owned. The silo,smy2d morse and the luke all use the same case with the same inside cutout. The morse didn't move around too much, and the silo is all over the place. The luke moves around a little more than the morse did but I use a rolled up tea towel to fill in the extra space. Not sure about the axis, petrucci or albert lee but more than likely skb has a single spec for the EBMM case that is designed for all standard ebmm guitars(bfr not included).

i have 10's my Luke too. love em.
I made my bridge flush too - so its totally easy to adjust it for your taste

Same here! Went to 10s and made the bridge flush because I have to switch to drop D tuning with some songs in my band.

I am so used to 10s I can't imagine using 9s but I suppose it wouldn't sound too different. The playability is a major factor; 9s feel too loose.

I didn't touch my truss rod but I did have to raise the action and adjust intonation when I went to 10s.

I have 10's on mine and tune it down to Eb. I am not having any problems. My Luke also tends to move around in the case a bit.
