I am hesitant to buy a JPX. I am also considering a loaded JP. I just am not sure about the chambering and high gain and the neck being finished. They are about the same price so it's a tossup as far as that is concerned.

Someone just tell me I'm crazy so I can pull the trigger!

Doesnt most dealers have a return policy? Go with the JPX and try it. If it's not for you, get the JP! I don't see a problem. Enjoy :)

Also bring your amp to the store! :)

Don't forget that the frets on the JPX are slightly larger and there is no forearm "scoop" it is rounded like the BFR. I've played both and it just takes a few minutes to get used to the JPX after playing the regular model for a while

dont be offended, but judging by the way youi talk im pretty sure you're american :p

that means you have the ability to pick up a JPX and try it, lucky you

go to a store and plug it into the metalliest amp in the store, if anyone complains explain to them about the chambering and that it was a genuine concern of yours

as for the finished neck.. i suppose that's an aspect thats very personal to the player. I for one have never felt that a finished neck could ever be a deal killer, if its a guitar that you like and has the things you want in it, then the neck should be something you can make yourself get used to

The JPX is the way to go. The biggest adjustment for me was the 5-way. Now it's not an issue.

Here's an idea: Try both out and go with the one YOU prefer. Don't go by someone else's opinion here as their idea of the perfect guitar may not be yours.

Also, the JPX's chambering does not hinder how it handles high gain. If that was the case, I don't think that JP would be using it live. We all know here that JP likes his gain.

I have tried to find one in the 2 close Guitar Centers. No luck yet...

Luckily I am a Guitar Center regular and have purchased many thousands of dollars (mostly EBMM) from them and they have no problem with my brief but full volume riffing to test out the gear.

That is probably true.

well. i really think this is something to decide for yourself and not by us. i think you should just hold out until you try them the way that i suggested. in australia theres a system of sales reps who you can contact in order to be set up with a trial run of a guitar. if ernie ball has sale reps thats how i would do it, its probably the quickest way to get your hands on one. theyre always willing to help you out if youre seriously considering a purchase, which you are.

+1. Hendog, if you have GC's near you, every GC has a great return policy. Try one out, and if you don't like it, take it back and order a regular JP6. Going by everyone's opinions here may be helpful, but in the end you need to try out the guitar yourself as it may fit others' needs, but not your own tone or playing tastes, etc.
