Overseas EBMM sighting

Normally I think about Balls all the time, but last week I was halfway around the world in Athens, Greece on business and guitars in general were furthest from my mind.

A colleague took me to see Thriller Live! (the Michael Jackson tribute musical) and I was delighted to see one of the guitarists playing a Luke Blue Luke! Needless to say, it sounded great. No pics, but I swear it happened! I just wanted to share.

Only here can someone start a post with "Normally I think about Balls all the time" lmfao All jokes aside how is the show set up, is there a story line or is it a mock live show of the Thriller album.

Straycat113, there was some brief biographical commentary occasionally, but it was mostly a 2 hour live show with lots of dancing beginning with Michael Jackson's work with the Jackson 5 and running through his solo career. Several individuals performed the lead vocals. I've put away the program, but I believe it was 20 or 30 songs. Not just the Thriller material.

The stage was occupied by dancers and the vocalists (also dancing). The band was below the raised portion of the stage. From where we were sitting, I could only get a partial view of the band, mostly the drummer. The first time the guitarist stepped out on stage for a solo and I saw the Luke, I was grinning ear to ear. It was like seeing something fond and familiar, but in a context where you weren't expecting it.

The quality of the musicianship and the dancing were absolutely top notch. I am not a big Michael Jackson fan, but I really enjoyed it. Highly recommended if the show comes to your part of the world.

Doesn't surprise me. Steve LUKATHER was deeply involved in thé making of thriller so playing a Luke is a kinda tribute to SL
