PUP replacement ideas for the JP Crunch Lab

I am using the Mesa Stiletto head with my MM JP and with the gain between 10-12 the crunch labs sound a bit grainy. Primarily with chords and ryphs, solos stuff sounds excellent. I have an extra Dimarzio AT-1 laying around (hotter PAF type pup). Just looking for some ideas in regards to trying some other replacements. The Stiletto is more of a marshall sound and I am not going for Petrucci tone, something more versatile and better suited for this amps gain structure.

I think the AT-1 should work nicely, Andy Timmons uses a Stiletto and his tone is amazing.

My favorite custom pickup (bridge) is a Dimarzio Norton (not air). I play in Journey, Foreignor, Boston, EVH bands and that is my pickup of choice.

I also have a Stiletto, VHT Pittbull, Jcm 900 (heads)

Pickup is extremly colorful, defined, punchy, agressive, - it's primo - certainly worth a shot!!

I love Evo pups with Marshall-like amps. Another option is the Paf Pro, love it in my Silo. Really versatile, moderate output but can shred like crazy too. The AT-1 should sound awesome as well for the obvious reasons, never played that one personally though.

I would put the Liquifire in the bridge just to find out what it sounds like . If I liked it, I'd then go for an EJ custom in the neck

I really like the Dimarzio tone zone in the bridge position.I've had them in a couple different guitars over the years,and have one in my silo now.Very versatile,responds well to picking and volume knob dynamics and works in multiple styles musically imho.The AT-1 is a pretty cool p/up too.

Do yourself a favor and try out the DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF's. They sound amazing. They can do vintage, bluesy sounds, as well as high gain stuff equally well.

I just played a used Suhr at Guitar Center that had the Doug Aldrich Suhr humbuckers in there and it sounded pretty great I have to say though I did not like the Suhr neck at all which I was thrilled about because I've been really wanting to get one for quite some time but the price of those things is ridiculous IMO... Especially having just played one... I can see maybe around $1500 or so but $3000-$4000 not so much.

Might be worth it to you ... but how's it narrow minded if he doesn't find value in another brand he didn't like playing?
