We talking popping right?

Just adjust your technique. I had to do this on a SSS Big AL by popping between the neck and middle pups.

slap/Pop

Thanks.. I will try moving down past the neck pickup and see if that works and adjust technique. Is there a recommended string height for slapping/pop?

I think string height is a matter of preference. I like mine real low. Like fretless low just short of buzzing. I don't claim to be God's gift to slappers though.

I have HS Sterling and at the beginning had slight situation according to slapping, but not about single S pickup, problem was in switch from 4 to 5 strings (string spacing), but now it's OK!

Anyway, I slap my 5 HS Sterling (very rare) with my thumb around last two frets and pickin' higher strings with first finger somewhere between end of the neck and S pickup at the pick guard area!

If it helps... ;)

...and what if I was used to popping with more than one finger (pointer ,e.g.)? There is not much room for adjusting your technique. That's one more reason I prefer single-H-models (StingRays)...

Be lucky you don't have a bongo HH, very tight. I have come up with a plan for a slight fix. Haven't tried it yet.

I never understood these slapping problems people have...on my Bongo HH everything is dandy, on my HS it's just great...

I had problems with a single H Ray though - there's too much room!

+1

First off, I rarely slap or pop...mostly it's just when I'm messing around, but I prefer to pop directly over the front H on my Bongo because it keeps me from digging too deep.
