OK Let me tell you how crazy Azaih and Dargie and AJ have it sometimes.

Here is the back story...

A french person bought a bass from a Guitar Center within the last year. When he got home to France he had a buzzing problem. He couldn't go to his distributor for help as he circumvented the distribution process.

He contacted AJ...We said we would replace the neck and only charge him the difference in freight from if he was in New York....SO this Jack ass gets a new neck for half freight....

THE BASS WAS MADE IN 2007....We have no idea if it was in fact new or second hand. WE bent over backwards to make it right.

Now comes the first email

Hi,

I've been dealing with A.J. about my stingray. I sent it back and he said you guys replaced the neck. I was happy until I got the bass and found out it was a lie.
I explained everything in this little video:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Zid_APB_4I]YouTube - MUSIC MAN STINGRAY truss rod/customer support issue[/ame]

You don't really want that video all over the web, posted as video responses or on all forums.
Send me a neck asap please.
As soon as I get it I remove that video.

Julien.

WE did replace his neck....here are the pics of his neck....not the 2007 pencil marking

Then we get this email......

Hi again,

I'm writing you because when I wrote A.J. I got an immediate answer saying he's off to the namm show. I don't know if A.J. knew the neck wasn't replaced at all but instead "fixed" by over tightening the trussrod to kill this rattle.
This tightening thing attenuated or even stopped the rattle but the bass was fret buzzing. I released it and the rattle came back and the evidence was here.
Look I forgot to include in the video a screen capture with the message of A.J. writing me about the neck replacement but I send it to you. This is quite an embarrassing evidence...
So now I'm thinking he lied to me or the guys who fixed the bass lied to him about the neck replacement.
He really sounded like a nice guy on the phone, very sweet and all that but I never trust in humans. I only trust in God.
All I want is a piece of wood called neck to get this bass working as it should.

Was it really a big deal for a factory to put me a new neck when you are producing thousands of them every week?

yours sincerly,

Julien

Now here is a guy who bought a bass made in 2007 at best it was a shop worn scratch and dent...probably used. He cannot tell the difference between a new neck and an old one and is basically extorting us in the court of public opinion.....

From his video he has misadjusted the truss rod......

Im not helping this guy one more inch We bent over backwards and now we are liars....

Heyyyyy... I bought a 2000 SR5 and I didn't get a new neck!?! Dang. What's a guy gotta do? I mean, when I play it my left big toe spasms. That should at least warrant me some new electronics. I mean, sure, it is 10 years old and sure I bought it from a private party and sure it has some wear on it, but it COULD BE NEW-OLD-STOCK!

:)

Good grief.

Lol!!! That video was hilarious, with the dramatic music and all. Customer service can be rough, especially since a very small percentage make such a stink!

What a retard, like anyone would benefit from not switching out the neck.

Thanks BP for posting, great insight to the things you and the boys have to put up with.

Oh, and I dearly love the brilliant technique the frenchman displays, wish i had his skills. Or not.

And his clear understanding of how to adjust the truss rod properly. "I released it." Um - what? You did what to it?

Listen, I very seldom say things like this, but: "Listen up, dumbass. If you "release" the truss rod, the strings will lay upon the fretboard, causing the noise you hear when you plucked the string on your dumbass video."

Anyone who has had any dealings with AJ knows what a crock of dumbass this truly is.

Anyone who's ever adjusted a truss rod knows what a crock of dumbass this truly is.

Have I mentioned this guy is a dumbass?

Extortion. Hay-zeus, what a maroon.

Someone send him a Squier. I guarantee you I (and I am no expert tech) could have that bass adjusted and playing fine within ten minutes.

I'm sorry I said "dumbass" so many times. But really. French dude? You're a dumbass.

Wow, he's 600% sure it's the same nack.

I don't know, but it sounds to me like this guy is just a knob trying to cause trouble. In fact I'm 412% sure he is.

God what a nack.

Well, no wonder the french sucked bad at the worldcup, losing 0:2 vs. Mexico.

There are times to care and times not to, and you did more than you had to. Forget him.

Soooo, what are you going to do with that old neck?

On second thought, there's some bad mojo associated with that neck, so, nevermind.

His emails are very aggressive! This guy is clearly in the wrong and/or has messed something up and expects you guys to correct it.

He should know its a new neck by looking at it!

He probably knew from the start that he was in the wrong by contacting EBMM C/Service but then, when he got away with a new neck, (maybe to his own surprise) he got greedy and threw all his toys out of the pram thinking he could get away with a complete new bass, by doing so.

what a wanker :p

Too bad the video is gone. We could've posted all sorts of unpleasantness in the comments box.
