I remember seeing a video a few years ago, maybe the "5 Years in a Livetime" where he is in the recording studio and someone is spraying Finger Ease on the fretboard while he's using an ebow. He might be spraying the neck with that to give him the desired playability he likes.

Pretty sure I saw the same video -- I think it was actually the making of 6DOIT and the song was "Disappear" with the sliding lead ebow part.

And also that product isn't intended for the neck, only the strings/fretboard.

I have an unfinished JP6 all rosewood neck and this is an amazing neck to play. I also have an unfinished maple neck on my Silo; same thing amazing. I also played a JP BRF with the finished neck and after 2 minutes of playing; same thing amazing. You are trying to compare the difference in "amazingness" and might not get there.

If you have a finished neck, tape off the areas that you don't wanted scuffed and use a light steel wool to lightly buff the clear coat for more of that satin feel; play it for a week. If that doesn't do it, tape it again and use an 800 grit wet/dry paper and lightly sand the clear coat (light enough to dull the shine and not cut the finish/paint).

Well thanks for all your input guys, I am thinking of maybe trying a neck swap from my 2007 and the bfr. The headstock is black on both, and I really love the the satin finish.

Its just that my hands are sticky, and i cant seem to play as fast on the bfr.

But I did like the steel wool suggestion. It may be my project this weekend.

Who Knows, maybe Tom Lee music will have a meet and greet, before the show on thursday.

Yup. Pretty cool one off. I'm surprised no one has bought it yet given that there may never be another BFR body with a standard JP neck.

How do you know it has an unfinished neck? There are no pictures of the back of the neck.

If you really, really, really wanted a JP BFR or JPX with an unfinished neck....and had the funds.....you could buy the BFR of your choice and then buy either a maple neck JP or Rosewood neck JP and swap necks. You could then sell the one that you'd make from the BFR neck and non-BFR body. Hey....call it a Custom made, one of a kind JP.

I'm not quite sure the necks are interchangeable between the standard JP, BFR, and JPX models. Maybe someone with experience here can verify one way or the other.

Like I said, call them and ask them about it, and as TheBoogieman said it's very obvious it's unfinished in the 2nd picture. Also notice the price, that's not what a Dargie BFR 7 sells for. That's what a Dargie JP7 Standard sells for.
