This is waaaay off topic... i'm an avid golfer and i'm looking at buying a new putter... currently playing a Bettinardi and i'm hitting 85-90% of my putts without any problems just wanting another look at the ball... what do you think about the new Scotty Cameron Studio Selects...

Actually when y0u preface a thread with O/T is is fine.

I am very spoiled I have three putters that Scotty make for me personally...
They are great but You should take them out on the course and see how they work....I like Ping putters too....

Peter, I hunted for months a long time ago for the right putter myself. I tried every putter there was, I spent my lunches trying out putters @ different courses. I personally ended up with a Beryllium Copper Ping Pal 4. I had the shaft shortened and I love it. I'm with BP on this one, you gotta give em a work out to see if they are gonna work for you.

Good luck, Glenn |B)

Peter, about 10 years ago I spent some coin on a Zebra putter. It really helped my game.

They are the shaped like half a hockey puck and swing like a pendulum.
I think someone bought them out & lowered the price a lot.

zebras are classics.

Yeas I help Paul who runs the tour program out at scotty with cooking. I know Scotty from my work with Anthony Kim.

Here is the best scotty cameron story that i have.

The Scotty Cameron studio is impossible to get in. Tour Players and top am's only. There is no sign.

I went there with AK and saw this prototype of the square putter that is like a newport 2 but with an extra inch. I Think its now called the squareback. I putted it in the Lab where there are about a dozen camers registering everything possible. Crazy technology. I loved it. It was the prototype.....Paul and Scotty say..."Its yours" What do you want us to stamp on the back edge...."Big Poppa" Voila. I take it home and about two days later Im driving my 67 Chevelle Super Sport Convertible and notice a sudden gas smell....as I turn the corner I realize that the car is on fire. NO worries I m across the street from the fire station. I jump out and knock on the door and nobody answers...I call 911 on my phone and it turns out that the entire fire dept is at a mc donalds....I hadnt bothered taking my clubs out it was just a tiny fire....Next thing youknow the whole care in engulfed in flames. I go to the towing yard and all me flubs shafts have melted and there is just a bunch of ask and club heads.

Keep in mind that Scotty put a $325 australian snakeskin grip on this too....Seriously this putter would go for at least 5 grand on ebay...(I didnt know it then) I sent the putter head back to Scotty with a letter that if he was serious about selling putters they should be able to handle the weather in the California desert. He called saying "HUH?" and I explained the fire and sent hiim pics of the car on fire.

Scotty decided to rebuild it and when he sent it out for the treatment it came back a one of a kind color...he was blown away....he put a black chrome shaft and a dark blue snakeskin grip and they prepared an ad for all the golf magazines...it was going to run and then California had the fires and it was yanked.

I have a back up he made of that.... I also have another prototype of his 009 series. I had him stamp slinky on the back.

BP-
as im reading i'm torn... am i saddened that you lost a convertible chevelle super sport or that you lost a great putter in the fire... (only to be redone)
i've putted with many Camerons and was going to pick one up prior to the Betti...
i doubt i would have any pull asking for a snakeskin grip... LOL

can we pull the "they don't exist without pics" card? LOL! just kidding... thanks for the advice and anytime you're up in the northern california area and want to hit the links let me know we've got a few gems up here and i'd be more than willing to show you around.

I bought a $29 putter from Master Grip on a whim. Turned out to feel the best out of any putter I have used. Replaced a custom made putter. Average putts per round is way down.

Comes down to what feels best and works best for you. ^^OP - take a few out on the course and see what works for you.

Also changed to the "claw" putter grip. Lots less "yips".

i just played twice last week on two PGA Tour courses and my putting was spot on... so no "Yips" i actually drained several long putts (20+ft) for Par so my current putter is really doin it for me... so i'm in no hurry to run out and buy a new putter... just looking for a different view as i'm standing over the ball to putt.

I know nothing of golf....I once played the Pirates' Cove course in Orlando, but got stuck on the windmill hole.
.
One question I would ask is how it sits with being a guitarist?

Reason I ask is that about 15 years ago I decided to take tennis a llittle more seriouslly, took lessons & played regularly. After a while I noticed my right wrist causing me problems.....seemed like I had to make a choice between the tennis & the music........I guess you'll know which I picked on the basis this isn't on the Wilson forum.......just wondered if you golfers get any problems?

i play a scotty cameron. think youll be hard pushed to find a better putter tbh. iv tried them all. you can do a blindfold test and you can tell the difference between a scotty and any other. different feeling completely.

fantastic story bp. i cant tell you how jealous i am.
