Just another newbie question about amps...

I currently have a small Marshall and one of bigger Line6 spider series.

I would love to have those Mesa Boogie and great sounding amps, but those are too expensive for me right now...

I am wondering which amp sounds great while keeping the price under... lets say under about $1k. (hundred dollars range)

I like Marshall sound over Line6, and would like to have JP-like tone... (recommend me an effecter if needed... I only have Dunlop Crybaby 535Q right now)

Thank you.

I like the hand made Twister amps.:)
The dust devil is a KILLER Combo.
May want to check out their web site.
I like their amps more than the Mesa stuff.
Cheers

The Jet City Amps are pretty cool for the money; easily modded too. The Line 6/Bogner amp is really decent for the money, as is the Bogner Alchemist. People seem to like the Bugera amps, although I have never personally played one.

Bugera amps sound really good, especially considering the price, but I've read that they're hit or miss in terms of quality. If you want to buy used you could get a Mesa combo for under a thousand. I have a Rectoverb, which I bought new for a little over a thousand, so I'm sure you could get something similar used for a lot less.

I can say from personal experience that you should look at the Jet City stuff. I'm not sure how close the "Soldano Designed" amp circuit is to the actual Soldano stuff (I believe the 20w is supposed to be based on the Atomic 16) but I can tell you that the amp sounds pretty good for the price point. You can get the 20w head for $300 and 1x12 cabinets for $200 each. The amp takes well to mods and tube upgrades (has 2xEL84s and 3x12AX7s). It's crazy loud too and takes pedals well. I play through my 20w stack daily and I love it. If you're into 2 channels you can step up to the 50w head and cab and still be under 1k.

Anyway, IMO it's worth a look.

Peavey 6505+ could be a candidate.

It sells for around $600US and is a 6L6 based amp with 5 12AX7's in it. It's a two-channel amp with a 1x12.

I think it's a mass-produced made amp, but for the price it has good tone.

lol, I actually saw that in the store today ($1K + 13% tax in Canada).

Do you know how it sounds? It was pretty damn tiny and cute lol.

Haven't tried one myself but a few guys I know are really happy they bought one................even gigged with it. I'm curious to check one out.

With no offense intended we/the fourm have this type of thread all the time, I am guilty as charged of having started a couple my self.

Do a fourm search and you will find lots of recommendations, opinions, choices.

With that said I have gone through alot of amps, some cheap some pricey and most crapped out on me quickly. I have not had much luck with amps.

Also amps are very subjectie to the user, you really just need to go try abunch and find one you like, plus you never mentioned how much wattage your looking for.

With all my rant said check out the new Egnater Tweaker cool amp, easy to use great tones and well within your budget, BTW I like it much better than the Mesa TA-15, was not impressed by it at all especially at the price.:)
