Unfortunately, there are many musicians who simply will not buy an instrument that they can't try out first.

And, more importantly, there are too many bassists who are more concerned with what others think instead of what their hands and ears tell them.

BP,

Many thanks for what you do here in the forums. In a day and age where the commonplace effort towards true customer interaction is absolutely no interaction you have made great efforts towards not just your customers but the musician community as whole.

It's always refreshing to see you interaction with us smucks here on the board and in real life. At some point (Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Cookoff for example) I'd love to have a brew with you and chat music and music related tools. Thing are always hectic though so for now I'm more than content for your words and wisdom here on the board and to play the fine products you manufacture.

Cheers!

How can a bass player NOT have one??!!

As someone said no maple option. I hate rosewood.

Unfortunately, there are many musicians who simply will not buy an instrument that they can't try out first.

Ergonomically the Bongo is different. I wouldn't drop the cake on one sight unseen either or suggest anyone else do either. FWIW I have tried them and the ergonomics don't fit me. All the Bongo fan love in the world can't change that.

And, more importantly, there are too many bassists who are more concerned with what others think instead of what their hands and ears tell them.

Many have tried and decided for themselves. My hands tell me they don't like Bongos.

They are a unique bass and are a fine product, just not for everyone.

Oh, no doubt--I'm not saying everyone HAS to like them. But, you can't disagree that there are quite a few people who won't give them a second look because of "internet chatter."

Yep. There are sheep that listen to the chatter and do not consider that everyone has a bias towards their favorites.

There are some cats who I know and would put lots of weight on their opinion because we played the same stuff and I know their take as compared to mine.

I love the chatter from folks that have an opinion on something they never laid hands on.
