Long time lurker, first time poster... I've just gotten hip to EBMM, and I want one. But which?

I like guitars with big, fat necks (prefer thick from fingerboard thru to back, not necessarily superwide fretboards). I have big hands and mammoth-neck guitars are just what feels best to me. Which EBMM guitar has the biggest neck? I found the neck profile thread, but the raw data isn't as useful to me as your subjective experience. Which Ball has the thickest neck? Anybody out there with similar preferences?

i have mammoth hands too, and have the axis...it is chunky but very narrow (imo), it is easy to play--can whip up and down the neck, but because i have big hands my technique is a little sloppier on this guitar because my fingers get in eachother's way. so i bought a second guitar (petrucci bfr) for it's much wider neck...allows me to play with a cleaner technique. can't speak much for other EBMM models, haven't played many others.

I have big hands with long fingers and when I played an Axis for the first time it was like... where you been all my life!

Never looked back since 05.

Axis neck should be right up your ally, besides being one of the best necks you will ever get your hands around. By the way I like my necks just the way you described your preference.

what the others said :) Axis, Albert Lee and Silhouette (not special) should be to your taste

with those 3 guitars you can get HSH (Silhouette) HH(Axis, ASS, AL) SSS(AL) 3MM90 (AL) or 2MM90 (ASS) pups configuration

Now welcome to this place and looking forward for pics after your first purchase

Albert Lee and Steve Morse.
Both I felt too big for me, especially Albert Lee.

I don't think Axis neck is big at all. I really like it, in fact I just bought a new ASS BFR for my colleciton.

Well I guess opinions vary a lot - but I (personally) would not call an Albert Lee a chunky neck. I played a Les Paul for 30 years and the Albert Lee neck is skinny in comparison - as is my EVH neck which is not a million miles away from an Axis. I don't have large hands but find the AL/EVH necks to be no problem at all.

Edit
take a look at post 27 on this tread

Thanks, guys, for all the replies! I got the chance in guitar center to try out a rosewood-necked Albert Lee. Yeeeaaap, that's nice. It just felt so... right, y'know? So natural and pure that it couldn't be wrong. Have yet to try out the Silo or Axis.

The 25th anniversary model was there. It was so pretty I felt shy.

I'd add the 25th/Reflex to that list too.

That neck is just a silo spec neck is it not?

never tried one but this my understanding as well. if true, this neck is not comparable with the axis neck and might not be to bigpooper liking

Correct, the neck on the 25th/Reflex guitar has the same rear profile as the Silhouette Special, while the fretboard has a slightly flatter 12" radius (silo sp is 10")
