Hi guys,

I'm after getting a flight case for my musicman, but I want to know it will be completely safe in the hold with the temperatures and also from hearing the horror stories of seeing your flight case thrown out of the back of the plane for fun from session players (apparently heathrow are worst for this, but won't do it with a decent aluminium case as it will take chunks out of the tarmac! )

So.... does anyone own/recommend any companies?? I'm told 5 star cases were always the industry standard but was curious if there are any others i should check out?

I suppose the ideal would be what the man himself uses, but I have no idea what he does use!!!??

Thanks!!!

I've heard cases of people being able to take them on the plane in a gigbag as they are small enough to fit in the overhead due to the headstock.

That's what I do. A good gig bag is the way to go. I think that there's a cool gig-bag coming out with a small built-in amp!

I've used the gigbag route and it was great

if you're sold on flight cases check out Brady Cases ? Custom Made Road Cases, Guitar Cases, Pedalboards, and More he's located here in the US but i ordered a custom flight case for my Orange PPC 212 cab and it's a work of art... i'll be ordering a case for my Orange AD30htc here in the next few months...

great guy to work with and the quality is top notch.

That's a valid point. Those darn security checks are long enough already.

i got pulled to the side a few weeks ago in Orlando for a random check... took 20 minutes and it prevented me from saying fair well to some of my family...

I've got a great flight case from Warwick. I've had it 10 or so years now and it's held up great. I know they still make them as I've seen them for sale recently. Very affordable too.
The gig bag trick only works if you are flying on big jets. I have to fly on small RJs frequently for some legs of my trips, and hardly anything fits in the overheads; certainly not a guitar. No way I want to risk any of my Balls going in the belly in a gig bag. They are too nice for that.
