That's the feeling I get from this thread as well. However, it's more important that you think about how YOU are going to use it and what you want to be able to do. My guess is that you'll be happy with the sound from either one...

Good luck!

as with any gear it's gotta work for YOU in your situation. When i start looking at buying new gear i usually take in my own amp set the way i like it and get in an area where i know i can hear what it will sound like. I did this a lot when i was buying individual pedals. Sure it took some time to set up and break down... but i knew what i was getting tone wise when i left. If you have a salesperson you work with just let them know you're kicking around two or three big pedals that you want to test with your gear and see if they mind you bringing in an amp and your guitar. I say that it's your money and there shouldn't be any surprises when you get home...
i like the line 6 stuff but when setup with my gear the nova worked better and i had to have my settings and presets without too much of a hastle... the setup i have is a bit overthetop for some but it works perfectly for me.

the stupid thing about the nova is that u cant run the fx thru the loop and the drive thru the front.

that would be a lot of cables if you chose to do that... and i wouldn't say it's stupid just changes the way you use the product. for me it doesn't matter as i don't have an loop and the unit sounds incredible through the front... i've run it through the back and it's a very subtle difference... didn't prevent me from buying it :)

I can run my GT3 with 4 cables things but to be honest, I never do. it's all effects in front and it sound good

I still have this picture of Steve Lukather with one Tube Screamer one overdrive 2 delays and a compressor getting a HUGE sound

pete ur amps overdrive will ruin the moduation, delay and rverbs if u run through the front
it woudnt need many cables to run it the way id want it tbh. if for fx ony in loop it beats the line6 easily

That's correct my friend but if you use it in front you will have to use it with a clean sound

The FX loop stuff is really personal preference. I've got one amp where I run everything through the loop, and one w/o a loop where I run FX in front (even with the gain cranked up).

Delay, chorus, etc. in front of the amp can sound great. So many of the tunes we grew up on had those sounds. (Sometimes I think we make it way too complicated.)

That said ... it's certainly nice to have the option. That's something I'd want in a muliti FX unit. (Which is why I generally stick to pedals.)

i'm using an orange ad30 htc so no fx loop option and i never really used it when i had it on my other amps... so i set my drive to where i want it and i go... add in the effects as needed... i play at my church so i don't go the metal route at all... it's more hint of drive and boost... but nothing that i'd have to run it at high gain... although at home for kicks and grins i pump it and it sounds good.

i think TC designed it so there wouldn't be any (should say very minimal) effect loss if ran in front. they've seem to have thought of just about everything. I can see where it would be benificial to split the signal as you say... but for me... it works fine.

I find it kind of ridiculous in this day and age that an amp manafacturer such as Orange would leave an FX Loop out of their design. It is a simple mod though for an amp tech to do if u ever need it.

I'd definetly get my Plexi modded to have an FX Loop if I ever used it again.

i don't mind not having it... i love the amp too much to care about the effects loop... i did consider having it modded but i wanted to keep it the way it was unmodded. it sounds sweet the way i have it setup... so no complaints at this point.

but i do find it funny that some big guns in the show opt to leave it out...

A lot of builders don't like loops. They add cost, take up space in the chassis and potentially affect tone. Esp. on the smaller amps, it's often overkill. (Many guys use W/D setups these days, you can feed them with a line out so a loop isn't always a necessity.)

I was a long time Nova System user, actually started a thread about it a while back.

But for the price the tones you get for the price are unbeatable. They really are. I never fully utilized all the features so I ended up settling for a nice pedal board set up.

Along with the analog Dist/Ovd setting with the option of running it in front of the amp, you've got a great unit going for you.

Ok Tommy - I know you probably can't say much, but are we talking multi-fx units or single pedals? Just wondering if I should return my Line 6 crap while I'm still in the return window....
