Thats a StingRay 5 string with 2 humbuckers.

And you buy it at a store that sells bass guitars.

Sorry if I am being a wiseass, but I am not sure what your question is...

That's probably a special Edition for Guitar Center with all the Gold Hardware... I think I've seen a pic of that bass before on this forum.

If it's about the gold hardware, this might get tricky ... besides that you can order a Stingray 5 in any of the finishes listed on it's product page. The one in your picture looks like white or pearl white body to me, vintage white pearloid pick guard, maple fingerboard, no matching headstock, double humbucker - that basically sums it up, except for the gold hardware. Dealers can be found on the international dealers page.

Maybe the other guys can help here: was gold hardware a regular option at any time? If not, this could be a limited edition I have no knowledge of, or a custom made artist model, or kinda home made (as in golden parts came after it left the factory).

Not that I know of. Except for all the instruments of the 2008 limited edition in Sequoia Gold.

AFAIK, the only other basses with gold hardware where one white SR5 with matching headstock custom made for an artist, and a couple of white ones made for Guitar Center. GC also had a Pace Car Blue special edition with gold hardware. Quite beautiful. Very rare.

I thought it was the '2006 Limited' that had the Gold hardware ? ( I'm possibly wrong).
And if it was part of the Ltd run would it not have a matching headstock ?

You're right - 2006LE = black/matching headstock gold hardware
2008LE = Sequoia gold/matching headstock gold hardware

but there have been GC limited runs with gold hardware as mentioned above (Pace Car Blue is one) - who knows what else they may have had - look at all these GC Classic Stingrays which keep appearing (natural/CAR/LPB have all appeared on here) :confused:

It looks like the pickup pole pieces are gold too, which would indicate that it is either a custom job or hardware taken from one of the Limited Editions (black and gold, root beer/Sequoia Gold, or Guitar Center Pace Car Blue exclusive).
