Nice looking bass Wazoo.

I am just curious. What do you do with all your bass guitars? Not that you need to justify the purchase, because even just to look at them as works of art is reason enough for me. But you have quite a few very nice basses.

I play them of course, however I have only just sold the StingRay 5 trans red, it was a reluctant sale on my side, I don't usually sell on my basses, but it just so happened that someone offered and paid me a LOT of cash for it (more than I expected even though it didn't have an original p/up) as I've said it was an offer I couldn't refuse. But on the other hand, that to me is just an incentive to justify my need for a classic 5 Ray :p not for a while yet but... that is what will happen in the near future.

Congratulations Fran The Big Al 5 is stunning - esp the candy red/maple board/white pg combo.

I knew you wouldn't sleep long with that beauty in the house ;)

Have you played it yet????

Is it safe to say that it'll be Coral Red?

Thank you very much.

I have been playing it all afternoon, and the more I play the more I am convinced that the single coil option on a bass is the way to go. I had already realized it wih the 25th HSS but now this Big Al SSS is proving that concept. There's the all off switches selection that gives a very infectious series tone which is different from that of the 25th and yet another flavour to the mix. Lovely bass, honestly Guv'.

Big Al SSS, a must have.

Beauty, congrats. "I don't know why anyone needs more than one bass ... I'm happy for you that you all are so rich". (paraphrasing). Ohhhh, that never gets old ... Just kidding around, Fran. Very nice trio.

Congratulations! That's a great colour combo... and interesting to read about your thoughts on the single coils...

See Oli, if you know where I come from, not geographically, but in terms of basses owned, I just couldn't pass the 3 singles Big Al, to me this is like going "Back to the Future" because before owning EBMM the best bass I had that I really felt at home with, also happened to be a 3 single coils one, and although I have since retired it, (them as I have 2 of them) I have missed their versatility and sound definition, so to me when the Big Al came on the scene, it was a no brainer, a must have. And I do tell you I have not burnt my money on this, it is worth every penny. Try one and then you'll see what i mean.

Maybe my brain has gone but I can't think offhand of another 3 single coil bass - clues?? I had thought that the Al was unique in this respect (possibly barring some rare 60s exotica like Burns).

Anyway I'm mighty relieved to hear you plan to remain Stingrayless only temporarily ;)

How do you feel the tone compares between the Al and the 25th, Fran? I have in my minds eye a Reflex but it's quite distant at the moment.
