Off Topic New Amp Day! MetroAmp 100w Plexi Kit *PICS*

Well I finished up this build earlier this week and finally got around to taking a few pictures of it today. Figured I'd share it with all of you.

It is a clone of a 1969 100w Marshall Superlead

For this build I used:

Sozo Mustard Vintage Caps
Mullard Re-issue Tubes
Mercury Magnetics Transformers
NOS Allen Bradley (carbon composite) resistors
Star Grounding

Oh and it goes to eleven

And this is what I ended up with:

Now the big question is, how's it sound?!?!?!? I see you jumped the inputs.

Did you build all of your pedals too?

It sounds absolutely amazing.

Some people prefer to use a "Y" cable rather than jumping the inputs. Personally, I have yet to find a quality connector to make a Y cable so I just jump them.


Oh and my neighbors love it.

Yes, the stomp boxes are all BYOC kits I've built over the years. I still need to make cables to hook them all up. The amp above the 100w is a JTM45 I built earlier last year.

I built a few of George's kits. Great stuff and George is awesome to deal with. I learned a ton about amp tone and caps, along with vastly improving my soldering skills. Congrats and enjoy.

The inputs on my old Marshall have been jumpered inside.
Did you ever think about that?
I know the jumped patch cable is a iconic thing.

How long do you figure it took you to build? Hit any snags, or did it just work after the build?
