I would like to have JPX frets installed on a Silhouette I just bought. Will MM do the install for me?
I emailed customer service for the answer today.. but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here as well...

Not sure, but I don't think so. But I guess there's always a possibility. Congrats on the Silhouette!

I also doubt they will do it because it borders on customizing and there is no CS, but it wont hurt to ask. If not just find out what size wire is used and bring it to a really good tech for a refret. But it is going to cost you at least $400 for the job.If your Silo already has had a fret dressing or two I would say go for it, but to spend that much to do a fret job on a perfectly good set of frets I would wait, unless you have no problem spending the cash.

The frets aren't worn, The guitar is just about new. I just really like the JPX fret. I agree $400.00 isn't worth spending either. If that's the price maybe I can buy just the frets and have it done by my local luthier. He'll charge me about $200.00..
I'm happy with the guitar so it would be worth it to me.

The EBMM repair guys are fantastic, no doubt. However they won't make any changes to guitars from the stock configuration, and that includes fretwire. Doesn't hurt to ask, of course, but the answer has always been no.

I can have it done locally.. I would really like JPX frets though. Maybe I can at least buy them from EBMM.

take your jpx to a guitar store and compare it to a whole bunch of ibanezs. you might find one with similar frets that you think you can settle with. all fret sizes are listed on ibanez.com

...sorry for mentioning ibanez so many times

Wouldn't CS have the JPX fretwire specs? Might be worth giving them a call. Then you can find a comparable fretwire...or the exact fretwire if it's available publicly.

I have been playing the Silhouette exclusively this last week or so.
I'm getting use to the stock frets and starting to like them on this guitar. I think for now I'll sit tight and keep playing it as is.
This guitar is much more than I expected. My JPX is my all time favorite... but I must say the silhouette is quite a monster. I'm impressed more and more every day by it.

That's great man. It's weird- I used to prefer a specific fretwire, but it was the Luke that turned me around. Much smaller frets, but for some reason just suited the neck perfectly. Since then it's less of a big deal to me, so I'm generally comfortable with what's stock.
