Last night I brought a few different guitars to a gig and I keep going back to the Luke. Nothing sounds and feels like it. I feel bad because I was thinking about selling it to buy another guitar. I know I will regret it so it is staying.

Trust me!!!! Dont do it man!!!! I sold my first one few years back and it haunted me until I got another one...now I'm happy like a little kid on Christmas. The only good thing that came out of me selling the previous LUKE is that I got my Silo Special which I am in love with as well. But I agree, the LUKE is just soooooo freakin smooth and easy to play.

Post pictures......... I want to see more Lukes... and tell me about the neck if you have a minute. I'm getting ready to buy another MM and the Luke is at the top of my list..
The closest dealer is 150 miles away.. would like some insight before I make the trip to see what he has in stock.

What EBMM are you playing now? We can use that as a reference point to describe the LUKE neck...

That's the whole point in owning a Music Man guitar!! To lighten the equipment load - you only need to bring one guitar to the gig.

I love the Luke so much. Wonderful guitar. I wanted a guitar with single coil pickups since I'm pretty much a humbucker guy. I just wanted one instrument that could give me that single coil sound, and although I have nothing against Fender, and they make a nice axe, Fender just wasn't the way I wanted to go. In steps the Luke. It is far more preferred than a Strat for me. The sound is so diverse, the pickups are amazing, and of course the quality is superb.

It is tough to describe the neck feel on a Luke. It is very unique and the "V" shape it has just feels different than most other guitars. I could see how some would not like the feel of the neck on a Luke because it is unique, but man I love it. I've owned two of them, but am down to just the koa Luke, but I'll never get rid of it. Might as well get rid of my left arm, it would be just about as tough to lose.

Same, I wanted a guitar that could produce such great rock and clean tones. Being a big fan of Luke and knowing that he is one of the biggest session musicians around, I picked up an original Luke off my guitar tutor's friend and have not looked back :)

For me it is a very easy transition from the Silo and Silo Special to the LUKE. I find it to be a VERY comfortable neck profile. I have long skinny fingers and I have absolutely no problem with the profile. I personally dont get along with the JP profile, but if you can go from the JP to a Silo I dont think you would have an issue with the LUKE.

I will post a pic when I get home from work. I did post one when I first joined the forum but it was bad picture. i will post a bigger one. I got one of the Purple Lukes with a matching headstock.

The only way I can describe the neck is that it is small and v-shaped and i love it. The guitar is really comfortable to wear. The body feels really light. I usually play every weekend from 9:00-1:00 and I never get a shoulder or back ache. I pretty much use the Luke the whole night and will occasionally play my strat if I break a string. I brought a parts o caster to my gig over the weekend, after one song I put it back in it's gig bag and went back to the Luke the whole rest of the night.

There was a guy in my area that was selling a Luke that was Feiten-ized for really cheap and I am kicking myself for not buying it. It would've been a great backup!

For all the Luke lovers. On Premier Guitar dot com there is a new video out today from EMG about solderless pick-ups.

Possibly coming to the Luke?

Hey Stratty, I'm playing a JPX and a Silhouette....

The LUKE will be nothing like the JPX, however if you imagine your Silhouette with a more pronounced "V" shape you are pretty close to the LUKE. I would suggest, if possible, looking for one of the LUKE's with the BFR Rosewood necks they are absolutely amazing to play and have a nice fat single coil tone to them.
