Stickers

Hello!

I noticed that some people keep the factory stickers on the back of the guitar to keep it mint. I came across an 10-old guitar (another brand) with recently removed stickers and found there is significant difference in color between the area beneath the sticker and the rest. With that being said, do you guy still think keeping the stickers is a good idea?

Most of the EBMM stickers I have seen are on the neckplates so it would make no difference. Guitar finishes can fade....depending on the paint & the colour, and a sticker would prevent this, thus leaving a mark when removed.

First of all, I've noticed that the EB barcode sticker ink will essentially wear off during play within a year, so it makes it not really a problem. There's no point in leaving them on if you can't even read them anymore. Second, the guitar you mentioned must have been left in the sun a lot or something to have such a discrepancy between stickered areas and the rest of the finish. Many of the guitars on this forum at least are case queens. Lastly, I have crazy amounts of faith in EB finishes, so, that said, I believe that they are much more fade-resistant than other brands.

Doesn't need to be the sun (most R&R guitars rarely see natural light) age,wear, light, smoke, beer fumes work just as well, particularly with nitro finishes. EBMMs are no more prone to it than other brands.....but many of the EVH models are now a completely different colour than the original..
As for leaving the bar code on your guitar....to me that makes as much sense as leaving the price tag on your suit.....but then my guitars need to work.

When I got my new Axis, the sticker on the neck plate & the bar code were taken off when I got it home.

If it's a case queen and you plan on reselling, then sure, keep them if you think it keeps or adds to the value.

My 2 cents worth is take them off - discolouring could conceivably result.

you should have kept the one that is on the neck plate in a small box You could have been surprised by buying/selling rate

Well for guitars that have no pick guard ,if you want to leave the plastic on the back plates I dont seem the harm though I peel everything off before it is even in the house. But I hope I do not offend anyone but nothing screams dweeb more than someone showing up to play with the plastic on his pick guard.lol Many years ago I bought a Tele from a guy who said he bought it to learn to play but never did and had the guitar in his closet five years. Anyway I bought it from him and it had all the plastic still on, the only thing was I could not get it off as it seemed to have become one with the pick guard. I brought it to my friend Mike who took the strings off and then pulled out a small can of lighter fluid which puzzled me because I thought he was going to do a Hendrix.lol Anyway he squirted a little on the pick guard and rubbed it in with his finger and in about a minute he had all the plastic off. Tech secret 101 I guess, but if anyone ever has the same problem that is how you do it, and it will not harm anything..

Like what fing said, take them away, and keep it in a ziploc.

Stickers are like, stickers/decal on cars. Leave them long enough, take away, and you will regret really big time.

I kept the sticker on my Silhouette Special for a week or two and then it actually started to peel back a little (humidity maybe), anyways, I wasn't able to leave it on my longer after that. Looking back now though, I am glad that I took it off, I don't really see a point in leaving them on anyways.

My stickers come off as soon as I open the case. haha

They are just a static cling decal so I usually leave them on until the edges start to roll.
