Hi Guys,

Today i received my Silhouette Special from Strings & Things here in the UK. I totally love the guitar its awesome!!! Pics to follow shortly.

I have a couple of questions, can the bridge be set to floating (a tiny bit) or is it designed for downward movement only? and if i set it floating will i need to adjust anything else? and also i notice it has 9-42 RPS Slinkys on it, can i put regular super slinkys on it? What are the advantages of the RPS strings?

Music man are the best thanks to all for the advice!!!!:)

It can be set up to float. Congrats on the Silo Special by the way...awesome guitar! I have all 3 of my Balls set up this way...you can see the pic of all 3 in my sig below. You can adjust this with the trem claw by releasing the tension of the springs...adjust it to how much you want to be able to pull up. You will have to fine tune the intonation and neck relief slightly especially if you go to 10s. But its not a big deal. If you dont know how to do this just take it to a good guitar tech.

The RPS are reinforced balls if I remember correctly.

Congrats on the Silo Special!!!

RPS strings are reinforced at the ball joint to further prevent breakage. You can put any other strings on it of course. Congrats on a great guitar!

Awesome thanks Roubster...i only want the bridge slightly off the body, and i use 9's so i guess intonation etc will be ok with the same gauge?

like they said :)

as for string RPS9 or just regular 9 will work the same way. RPS9 are a bit stronger I never faced a breakage since I use them
