Off Topic Techs messed up my JP

Having issues with my JP6.....


First had a setup done and pickups changed by a guy who was recommended by Dimarzio.. then got it back and was ok for a couple weeks then the Piezo died, then the intonation went so far out you could move the saddles on bottom strings to either extremity but to no avail...

Took it to a shop with a very good rep, they checked it out, wiring was bodged so needed redoing and the fret stone had been done wrong/badly as well as the neck relief so they set to put right...

Then took nearly two weeks for the new piezo saddle to arrive after a week of setup and looking into it, so after nearly a month went to collect yesterday...

Whilst there the bottom E and A strings went out on intonation past 7th fret so strings were changed and re set intonation and was perfect (dodgy strings- it happens ay), then got home and was struggling with harmonics on g string but assumed was me being rusty. Then played guitar today and the G is very dull - even my student noticed quickly - and the top E is catching the G when you bend at 17th fret or higher

So now another trip back to hopefully just adjust the saddles and nut clearance to eliminate both problems, I hope.

I just want it fixed as it's my baby and it's not been right for 2 months and I've been without it for over a month..

Is it just me that has these guitar woes?????

I made the decision long ago to ONLY have EBMM work on my EBMMs. It's worth it to me to have it done the way it's supposed to be.

Reaching out to customer service is your best bet... even if you are in Europe. It worked for me!

I do not know who they originally recommended you to but that is where things seem to have gone down hill for you from. Just hold on and you will get it back to old form.

This is the problem. It seems you did not go to a repair/set up place recommended by EBMM. I would get with CS to find out where to go in your part of the world. Also, the title of the thread is a bit mis-leading as it implies the JP is messed up and EBMM is to blame. Clearly, they are not. Just saying.

Hope you get it sorted out as it is a great guitar once it is set up correctly. Again, CS will get you there.

Some "repairers" just don't get it right with EB guitars. I would contact Strings n Things and ask them for a reputable guitar guy near you. Their number is 01273 440442 I guess they are not too far from you?

Please change you title it is not fair to us.

What you have done is viotaed your warranty ...taken the guitar to two guys...none of whom we recommend.

OUr guitars are not difficult to set up...it someone botched it then I woudl stay far away....in the meantime contact strings and things first and not an international forum suggesting that we did something wrong.

sorry to hear this, bro. I totally know how you feel, having had similar experience in the past. That's why I use the same guitar tech for the last 15 years. Before that it was a crap shoot every time I needed work done. i also learned to do most of the work myself.
Strings and Things will sort it out for you, CC will as well.

+1...techs around here are clowns that dont really know much about serious issues. Send it back to the factory they will make it right

I concur!!! I have been doing set-ups on my EBMMs since I went to a tech several years back at GC and he couldn't even solder properly...overheating the pot which resulted in an unusable volume control. Thank goodness it was not any one of my EBMMs at the time. Since then I have been doing it all myself and cant complain, as I learned from my mistakes and I did not have to pay someone else. Its a constant learning experience as I have done some horrible soldering jobs...mainly due to a really bad soldering iron... and also put a hairline crack dropping pliers on the Silo Special when I was changing pickups and putting all back together. Yesterday, I needed to clean the input jacks on my Silo Special since they were a little scratchy...I sprayed contact cleaner in there and then decided to wipe off the excess with cotton ear cleaners (Q-tips?). Not the best idea, since the cotton came off and took me a little while to get it out hahaha. But it did the trick and now everything works perfectly.
