See youtube link below - a live version of S.O. with slightly extended bass solo. How cool is it that there's a little bass solo on this tune that we all hear on the radio all the time? How many pop tunes have a bass solo? Paul D is great and I've been a fan of his for a long time as well. In the 80s it was all about him and Pino - on Stingrays! For you other 40-somethings, you'll remember the bass solos on tunes like 99 by Toto and Brother to Brother by Gino Vannelli, but seriously, in pop music, you don't hear many bass solos - oh, yeah, My Generation by the Who of course.

Many thanks for the thread resurrection....I had never heard this guy before (knowingly anyway) and it has really made me want to dig deeper and listen to more of his playing.

Awesome stuff.

agreed, Paul is a killer player

but one thing has been bugging me. I've watched lovers live a million times but I don't know what that bass is he's playing towards the end. I know he plays it on by your side. Does anyone know what kind of bass this is?

Anyone tried to rewire the humbucker on parallel in stead of series?

I did and I am very happy with it, sounds much mellower, more Denman-like.
