Anyone using one? Just thought it would be a fun practice tool. Every time I go into guitar center there are so many kids noodling at high volume I can't hear the thing and none of the employees can tell me much about it. Positives/negitives.
thanks

Had one of th first versions, it is a great practice tool, dont expect the tones to be killer but not bad, especially for the money, I hear the latest version is even better, also check out JamVOX as an alternative

I had a 15 watter for a while. Fun to practice with and some of the loops are cool. Avoid the G-Dec Junior. The Line 6 Spider Jam is supposed to be superior in sound and features, but pricier for sure.

I have a 30watt gdec3 as a practice amp for home.Sounds pretty good...much better than the original gdec imho. The loops are actual recordings....looks like they took a hint from the spiderjam. It comes with editing & recording software and can be usb'd to the computer but I haven't had a chance to check that part of it out yet.

Checked out the vox and line6. Vox seems intersesting but I was also wanting something I could easily take with me when my wife and I traveled. Use in hotel rooms, family homes, etc. I will see if GC has the line6. Also thought of a small multieffect unit to use with the drum loops and headphones. Any thoughts on digitech vs zoom?

I've got the 15w version. Very good practice tool, but obviously solid state sounding. Also own a Rowland Cube 30w. Great at high and low volumes, and sounds more tube like...

+1 on the Tascam, I have the GT-R1, which also has mics for ambient recording. I've used it extensively in hotel rooms etc for practice and to keep myself compnay when traveling. Load up mp3s, good to go.

One other alternative I use is the Vox Amplugs. I like the AC30 version. It's great for playing along with Pandora on my iPhone. If you don't need looping or effects, it's a great cheap alternative, and your entire iTunes library is available.

I'd like to hear some stories of G-DEC users. I've wondered if all the hyped features were useable.

I bought the 15w about 3 years ago just after I bought a new cell phone, a new digital SLR camera and was learning a new graphics program on my Mac. I was so maxed out at learning how to use everything that I never really gave the G-DEC
much of a go.

I kept it for about 2 weeks only trying out the basics. I remember playing to a drum loop and thought it sounded pretty good. It was a lot more fun then playing with myself. I also recall creating some pre-sets and forgetting how to get them back. I’m pretty sure that if my brain was not fried, I would have kept it. I think its a good buy for the $$.

I’m not at all familiar with the other amps mentioned.

I bought my son a G-DEC 30 for Christmas last year. Have a look at it before deciding on another option. The FUSE software, SD Card slot, MP3/MIDI capability, built0in tuner, lots of free backtracks available to download etc.. Sound-wise, it's great for what it is - a fun practice tool.
