I may have to cross the border to the big D and smuggle a set of coated Slinky's back. Thank god for Wonder Wipes!

I'm not a DR fan at all.. They are very inconsistent and D'Addys don't last. I've been using Slinky's for a couple years now. Actually before I bought my first Music man. I like 10's on my JPX and 9's on the Luke. Not sure which I will prefer on the Albert Lee RM neck. I'll know in January......... Hell, Clapton uses Slinky's, Its no wonder.

i thought the same about DR that their consistancy wasnt good so i called DR to find out if there was a bad batch or something and the DR guy pretty much yelled at me about it and said theres no way they are inconsistent. So then i was at the local guitar repair shop and he told me they sent back the whole wall of DR strings because of inconsistency of the strings. he said they just would not intonate right at all. he recommends EB strings and I still think they are the best strings around. EB makes some really great products , i even like their picks even though i have to buy them at the cd store cause no music store seems to carry them. I recently just bought the EB wah and I reallly like that too.

i am not one to publicly bash products BUT i have had to dozens of times had to throw away dr pure blues stings that my clients have supplied. it's gotten to the point where i warn them when they bring them in that they should use different strings if they want their intonation . i've also seen BRAND NEW pure blues string actually buzz...sounding exactly like fret buzz. pure blues are round core w/nickle wrapping......but it seems (to me)that the windings frequently are very loose around the core....which causes them to buzz and makes intonation pretty much impossible.

Moderators...i will totally understand if you need to remove this very accusational post.

i dont like to bash products either but was very surprised on the reaction of the person from that particular company, I didnt expect that kind of response from a string company. I thought they would have helped out a lot more then they did.

I can't remember ever having a set of bad strings from any company. I've been playing for over 30 years now. Of course, during that time I've tried DRs (one set - no thanks), GHS Boomers (one set - blech!), GHS Nickels (one set - meh) and D'addarios (several years worth) and EB (many many years worth). I always now use EB Slinkys on all my guitars. I never had an issue with the D'adds. I just noticed a great tone improvement when I switched to EBs - YMMV.

I just love the tone of fresh strings! :)

I agree with Norrin on this subject, as I have never had issues with any quality strings. I went from Fenders early on to D'addarios for years until I noticed they were starting to die on me pretty fast and my friend Mike told me he had the same issues and switched to Slinkys and that has been it. I really do not know how anyone can have a set of strings on for a month if you are playing everyday. Then again I have been handed guitars to checkout that I could not slide up three frets.
