WOW.
I am a huge 5er convert now. I was going to go for a Big Al 4 SSS, but now im thinking I might have to go with a 5er.
The pickups sound fantastic in this bass. The S is brilliant and gives that warm thump. The H is that EBMM punch and snarl, and the ones in between are great, (position 4 is great).
In fact, soloing the neck coil is amazing as well.
Just had 2 hours into my TC Elec RH450/Headphones/Ipod, and the Ray 5 HS sounds SO good.
I am even more impressed than I thought!
17.5mm string spacing? Absolutely spot on. I see why the Ray 5 has always been so popular.
I can play quite a lot of lines id normally play on a 4, and im switching positions and using occasional lower notes on the B.
