Great stuff Mike, sounds really good!

I've got half an eye on the new 1w combo coming out, any sneak previews?

thanks man! well I may get to demo it at the blackstar clinic before it is reviewed by the magazine folks, if I'm fortunate enough to demo one I will let you know what it's like, if it is like any of their other amps it's going to be a winner.

very nice tone and playing :)

can you explain a bit pls about those 2 channels ?
first I thought one is clean , the other is drive...but...

Hey, sure!
It has a clean channel, which is awesome, the tone is stunning, and a gain channel, which is a slight crunch, again the tone is unbelievable, you can even blend the two channels together! When you use the HT Dual pedal with this amp (it was pretty much made for this amp) it makes it a 4 channel amp, you then have: clean, slight crunch (or blend them together) a more powerful crunch and lead. :) basically, with this simple set up you have a lot of tone and variation of sound at your fingertips, it is a monster set up!

I was originally looking at getting a lonestar to get that andy timmons tone, I even got the pedals he uses because I like his tone more than any other guitar player out there, but when I tried the blackstar I was converted immediately, it completely swayed me! and of course, it is cheaper, and completely hand built (the artisan).

Mike,

Have you happened to have tried the Artisan 15?
I'm wondering if there's a difference in the character of the 2 amps and not so much the wattage.

I'm wondering if there's a difference in the character of the 2 amps and not so much the wattage.

The 15 has one celestion vintage G12M speaker instead of two (like the 30) it cuts to 5 watts (which is GREAT) it has 2 EL84 output valves instead of 4, it sounds almost identical to be honest, there are a few differences in that the bass shape switch and the 2 way voice switch isn't there (I dont think) so there are only tiny, tiny differences in character, most wouldn't notice a difference in fact. Some argue the tonal characteristics of the 15 is better, some prefer the 30... the 15 won 'guitarist choice' award, the won 'guitarist gold' award, you cant go wrong either way :)

oh by the way, the artisan 15 with a HT Dual running through it sounds absolutely mind blowing, it's especially cool that you can run this thing at 5 watts, and it sounds BIG!

How is the cabinet? I have an HT Studio 20 Head that I carry as a backup and am toying with the cabinet idea?

Sounds great with the combo plus it really looks the part:D , I initially thought I made a mistake because I think I should have ordered the 1x12 cab for the combo but blackstar have assured that even though I’ve messed around with the ohms the way I’ve connected it will do no damage and will not affect the sound.
Word off warning the 2x12 cab is big but it gives the sound loads of boom

Nice looking amps, the smaller models are tempting....and for a change it's the Americans who get the horror story prices as they're a UK company!
