Dear fans and friends,

Please welcome Bad Salad's newest member, Mr. Denis Oliveira.
Denis was chosen amongst dozens of vocalists who applied for the tryout we conducted in the period of April 20th to June 20th this year.

He is now an official member of Bad Salad, and will be working with us on the debut album already in the making, and fronting the band later on on tours to come!

We are happy to have him and hope you enjoy his voice and contribution to our music!

Bad Salad.

Oooooh yes yes yes. Love that.

Awesome as ever; huge sound, and so well delivered by all.

And Kermit is rockin' the whole kit, fantastic :)

Great stuff Thiago. I loved it as an instrumental piece and now with vocals. Look forward to hearing the whole album! (Yes I said album, I'm old)

I need to get some speakers on this computer pronto. Maybe the Focal CMS40 monitors that are out front, hmmm....

LOL. You probably heard it way better than I did while mixing it!

Thank you for checking it out everyone! I really appreciate the feedback. It's nice to read your first impressions after having made such an important choice for the band!

Hey Thiago,
I like a lot your music and playing of all the band members.
and as I always say, my subjective opinion is : I don't want to upset anyone, but when I first listened this version of the song with vocals, I thought this band is too good for this voice :( he band sound very very pro, but for me at least in this song the voice doesn't
I listened last night 6 times the song, it's good old DT days prog like :D , the voice reminds me a little of Symphony X, but is seems to me very compressed and like you used some effects on it when processing, cause I can hear clearly and accurate how the voice sounds, or maybe that is his voice :p

That sounded great Thiago! The vocalist has a Russell Allen quality. Can't wait for the release.

Sounds great Thiago. I am interested to know if you had the lyrics and melody line for the song before Denis got involved in the project or are those his. I think you guys made a good choice.

It's okay man! I don't expect everyone to like our choice of vocalist. The people who liked our demo without vocals liked it the way it is. Anything we'd put on top of it would be a risky move, no matter how good.

I'm actually quite happy with the response overall. I thought we'd get many negative feedback from frustrated fans. It's hard to compete with people's imaginations/expectations.

I didn't understand exactly what you said about the compression... Anyway, this is still a demo. This is what he tracked on his own, still as a candidate, to show us how he'd sing on our song. I obviously mixed it later on to get it to sit in properly with the rest of the band, but didn't have a whole lot of control. The vocal tracks were all bounced down to a single wave already (including backing vocals, effects and stuff), so that limits me a bit. I didn't bother too much since it was just to show the results of the 'vocal tryout', but I'm aware some artifacts can be introduced from stacking up effects over an already treated bounce.

The lyrics and melodies were already done before we even started the vocal tryout.
I sent Denis the track with me singing it and a copy of the lyrics.

Thiago , thanks for clarifying some aspects , when I said compression and processing/effects I was referring to the voice alone how it sounds in the video.
you are absolutely right you can't make everyone happy .
and since I'm the first one "complaining" the norm for judging this should be the rest :)
I am sure the final version will sound much better.
I wish you and the guys all the best, you are all doing a great job , and to be honest there is no band (leave alone DT :D) in the last years to sound so good :)
hope to see Bad Salad on tour in Europe ;)

Thank you!!!
