Woke up this morning (hey now that's a good opening line!) - couldn't close my mouth because it was swollen with an abcess!!

So I sat on the dentist's steps at 8:15 - they opened at 9!!

Had it lanced and feeling much better now - man I would have given ANYTHING this morning to have the pain relieved (well maybe not my BCB AL!;))

Spud - tired - sore - and feeling very sorry for himself - but BP, Welsh dentists rule ok - didn't cost me a penny either - I think they took pity on me lol.

Man - I hear ya......nothing worse than a) the pain, b) the realisation that you have to go to the dentist Couple of months back I was struck with the most unbelievable pain in my mouth - and just paced around the living room holding my head..couldn't talk...rattling with Ibuprofen, Paracetemol, Calpol (seriously), Kids Ibuprofen (seriously)......anything to make it go - didn't work...

Went to my dentist the next day, he ripped out the big upper molar and the roots had twisted like a corkscrew...jeez, unbelievable pain, and then he had to crown the one below - nice feeling having all your nerves in the tooth exposed.....even the air I was breathing hurt! LOL

It's as if it never happened now! Still crap-scare of the dentist though!

This thread may qualify for an OFF TOPIC header. Not sure though.
I spent almost 5k on a dental implant last year.
Pretty sure breast implants are less

Had an abscess tooth once, never felt pain like that. So infected that my dentist decided to drill a very tiny hole in the tooth so it could drain why they treated me with antibiotics. Once the drill hit, the infection spread to my face and eyes, swelled up so bad I looked like a monster. Couldnt see or eat for days, and it happened the day before our Thanksgiving holiday!!!

Ouch! Had to get a spot on my back lanced a couple of years ago. Can't imagine how that would have felt if it was the inside of my mouth... Very relieving once it's done though. Really cool of them to not charge.

Funny that this topic is up...

i had to stay home from work yesterday due to a swollen lymph node in my cheek... it looked like it had been plugged with a golf ball... it's still a bit swollen and very tender but at least most of the pain is gone for now.

meds are awesome!

ok ok no sympathy for the devil.

Nah thanks for the "e-hugs" guys.

I came home early and slept like a log for about 4 hours - it's amazing the difference.
The anti biotics have kicked in (yeah they were free too )- Jimmy, maybe England will have free prescriptions one day.:p - Pensioner jokes huh? - mmm I think I'll be "getting your file out" on Monday to see if you qualify for one of those nice HMRC letters that have been hitting the news lately;)

S'funny that you should ask for pics guys - the dentist (gosh don't they look young nowadaze) saw me on the steps reading a (guitar) book - yeah even in pain I gotta feed the addiction. He said "you started to play guitar?" - I was just about able to speak with the swelling. and said "yeah only started 40 years ago". So we had a (painful) convo about guitars and learning styles. I thought that I'd better be nice as he was gonna be prodding me with all kinds of contraptions. Now where was I - oh yeah pics. He took a picture of the swelling and of what he had just done and showed it to me - anyway after almost throwing up at the sight - I thanked him and said that maybe we could have a better convo about guitars next time when I'll be extolling the virtues of my 'balls!!.
