Today I decided to stop by the local Guitar Center and saw a used VT Bass pedal lurking in the counter. After reading the many positive posts here about that pedal, I thought I’d give it a whirl since the bass department had some beautiful MM Rays on the wall and a Markbass rig that I use regularly. As I was plugging it all in, I overheard a guy asking the sales guy if they had any 5 string Ps or Js. After the sales guy said he didn’t, he suggested looking at a MM 5er, which is what I had in my hand. I sat with the guy for about 30 minutes, trading the bass back and forth, showing each other our chops (or my lack of them). Along the way, I kept showing him all the great tones and sounds that come out of a Ray 5er. He couldn’t get over how clearly voiced the B string sounded and was floored when I boosted the bass beyond the center detent. I told him “they all sound this good”.

As I went on to buy my new little pedal toy, I saw the guy breaking out his credit card. Bam! It was the perfect ending to a crappy day at work knowing that I helped someone find out how kicka$$ the MM line of basses are. On my way out, I congratulated him on his choice and mentioned that MM had a great forum too.

I went on tonight to see a good friend’s band play at a local place. I noticed the normal bass player was missing and found out that he had quit earlier in the day. During their break, they asked me if I’d start sitting in with them. They are a damn good band and it would be an honor to start gigging with them.

Karma baby, it’s all good!

See if all of you would only sell one a day I would love it

Would that not add delays to production if we did that?

(No. of)Forum Members X (1) MM Bass a day sold; = whatever # of basses to be built in SLO...

OK, I'll do it, (sell one a day) BUT ONLY if when I place an order, if gets bumped into priority being built-
Howzat?

I take my basses to GC just to inspire MM lust in others. I remember the time I took my DD2 Bongo to GC for amp testing. Before I even got through check in I had an employees asking whether I was trading it in and two others that came over to check it out. Once in the rumble room I actually gave it to two customers to check out. Very similiar experiences with the 25th. I think some people have never seen or heard something that doesn't look or sound like a J or P.... but there is curiosity and hunger for innovation.... It's only a matter of time before the balance shifts. And IMHO it's already starting. GC is starting to give a lot of attention and priority to EBMM (good work BP with nurturing that business relationship!)... Bass Player and other rags are giving love... I think it's all starting to pay off and I love it personally. All IMHO of course

For all the other gripe threads about GC, I have to say that I love the fact that there's a moderate size one 5 minutes from my house well stocked with MM gear. I know I'm very lucky to have such a place nearby. I'd help them sell more if I could, just to keep them open.

Great story! If you start jamming with this band, and you guys do any shows on Sunday's or Monday night's, let me know when and where you are playing and I will come down from Sterling and check out a show.

Likewise - but any night for me since I'm in the 'hood.

How about we make a new rule around here... with BP's permission of course. If you sell 365 Musicman Instruments in one year, you get a free instrument. Who is up for the challenge? JOSH

I'll let you guys know when the gigs start coming up. Probably in about a month.

Have you ever noticed how many MM bassists there are in the Denver area? This might be an outstanding area for BP and team to setup a "user lab" for the Gamechanger... Now that would be the ultimate happy ending!
