Hi all,

Well, I'm really looking at the new Reflex:D, but since my local Musicman provider doesn't have any Reflex yet, here is few questions:

- I've read that the reflex is like a 25th, exept for the flammed top??
- I've also read that the neck is pretty much like a Sterling, but I've tried a 25th, and the neck is not really like my sterling (slight diffence...)
- Will the roasted mapple neck be available on the Reflex??
- Does anybody tried a reflex? How's the feeling?? Compare to a Sterling???

If you have any other info that can be usefull... go ahead!!!

Thanks !
Vincent

Yes, it is pretty much a 25th, without the figured top.
Neck profile is like a Bongo .... not a Sterling.
(I wish the Sterling SLO profile was an option!)
Hope that helps ................

Yap, but without 24 frets, 22 actually, high profile, wide!

The roasted maple neck option was available to order during the month of August only. It was available on the Reflex model. I'm sure there are dealers who ordered extra stock so hopefully you can find one before they're all sold out. You could try contacting Bass Central, DuBaldo Music, and The Perfect Bass to name a few dealers off the top of my head. I'm sure there's tons more.

Reflex = 25th without fancy top
Neck is the Bongo profile which I've read is between a Stingray and Sterling
It was available in the Roasted option
I LOVE the Reflex/25th

It is different than a Sterling but an amazing instrument. I have virtually no play time on a Sterling.

What pickup config were you considering on the Reflex?

Its almost like a Bongo and an SR/Sterling had an illegitimate love child..... Really quite beautiful....

Well, all the pickup configs on the Reflex have their benefits, but my vote goes to the HH. I have a 25th HH and find it incredibly versatile. You have 4 settings - available in passive or active, series or parallel for a total of 16. In particular, the setting that gives you the two inner coils is a big favorite of mine, usually in series/passive mode.

I love this bass, I use it a lot, mostly in passive mode.

Thanks all for your help!!!!

Well, I will have to give a try to a 25th to make sure that I feel ok with the neck.... I'm really used to play with my Sterling, and I love it! And love also the Sterling sound!!! My actual Sterling is a Single H... So I would go with either a HSS or HH... I'll have to study the case more deeply!

As for the roasted neck, I'm not sure if I really do want this option, I love mapple necks... So I might go with a Vintage Sunburst Reflex HH or HSS with mapple neck....:eek::eek:

I'll ask my local dealer for a price... I'll let you know!!

Thanks
Vincent

Hey Matt,

I've just spotted Roasted Reflex BFR on order in Your signature!

Wow! :)

I let go of my favorite bass for that one... It's in good hands and I am really excited about the Roasted Reflex. It won't have a figured top but the ebony board and black sugar finish should be stunning. And I'm out of my five string phase for the time being...

What's the ETA on yours Keko? You are going to LOVE it!

Well.... I'm more and more confused!!!! I tried a 25th at my local store, and it's an amazing bass!!! The only thing that bugs me is the neck... I'm really in love with Sterling neck.... And the 25th neck still have a big difference that bug me a bit....

I've looked at the Big Al 4 SSS (on the web, my local store doesn't have Big Al) and it appears to have the same Sterling neck specification! It can be a good bass to... I'll have to give it a try.

To many hot musicman bass!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't know what to choose!

So here is my choices:
- Reflex 4 strings HSS or HH
- 25th 4 string HSS or HH (but $$)
- Big Al 4 strings SSS
- Bongo 4 strings HSS

Way too many choices!!

Thanks
Vincent

Vincent, if the neck is a big deal to you go with a Sterling, SLO Special Stingray or Big Al. They all have the same Sterling neck. The Big Al is awesome, very versatile and EXTREMELY comfortable.

The Bongo, 25th and Reflex all have the same neck.

I wrote above, yes BUT, 25th/Reflex have 22 frets, instead Bongo's 24 frets!

Anyway, when I tried 25th, didn't noticed any problem with neck profile, just opposite, I find it fantastic versatile! ;)

Yes, the Bongo has 2 more frets, but that only matters when you get to the 22nd fret. The neck profile is still the exact same. Those two frets don't change how the rest of the neck feels.
