Greetings...New guy here but have been lurking for a few days in anticipation of my getting my first EBMM from a Craigslist trade, my Gibson SG which I've owned for about 5 years and never really played it for a 2 year old EBMM SR4 (built 12/08). I own 10 other basses all different makes and configurations but have always wanted a StingRay...

The Sting Ray is black with a black guard, maple neck (actually my first maple neck bass) and seems to be a great sounding bass. It needs a bit of a setup tweak but I'll do that tomorrow...it's too late to get started on that tonight.

My 17 year old son who has just started playing in the past 3-4 months almost peed his pants when he saw it...so far, he's played it more than me. I'm going to have to keep an eye on him (and the bass).

Thanks for the welcomes...

I will try to get a few pics up in the next few days...the guy I got it from sent me some pictures but they aren't the highest quality...

I was up way too late last night (actually this morning) messing around with it and getting used to the EQ on it...it wasn't working the way I thought it should be and it dawned on me that the bass was almost two years old and the previous owner rarely played it...in doing the "tongue check" :p on the battery, I found it was nearly dead...replacing it made a world of difference...the bass now had balls.

I usually name all my basses...been thinking of one for this one...I'm leaning towards "The Undertaker" as it's all black (except of course for the maple neck). Perhaps too morbid though (with apologies to any forum members that might be undertakers here ;))

I'm taking it to band practice tonight...my bandmates don't even know I've done this yet...should be interesting to see their response. None of them are anal about what bass I use...I usually use the bass that fits the song within reason...I find that I use my Carvin 5 string fretless and Carvin 5 string fretted most of the time or my 82 Fender Fullerton vintage reissue p-bass w/flats for the bluesier stuff we play...We do mostly original stuff but some of the stuff we've been writing lately has taken a decidedly edgier turn and I think the MM will fit the bill nicely.

I saw your thread about the trade in the big bass forum. Your bass is a beauty so I say you came out ahead. In case you want to flirt with skinny strings again don't forget that EBMM also makes fine guitars.

Welcome dedmouse.

Can you believe these guys?

Watch out for the Bongoloids. They're everywhere. ;)

Well, I never thought I'd own a Stingray due to the price, etc but here I am...a deal I couldn't refuse.

The Bongo looks like an interesting bass but I tend to be pretty traditional when it comes to my guitars...even the oval PG got some getting used to when I saw my first Stingray, but the tones coming out of this bass more than make up for any slightly left of center looks this thing might have (which I know is totally subjective)...:)

Here's one picture...as soon as I took it, the battery died in my camera.

I'll take a few more once the battery recharges...
