Yellow for AXIS

Derek,

I also think a "monaco" Yellow or as fender currently calls the color "Graffiti yellow"

Would be very cool on an AXIS-

Kinda like the Mr. Horsepower-

Skoorb! LOL! That's too cool! I've been thinking of building a Tele-Axis hybrid for a while now - I've gone as far as putting together a parts list and shopping for bodies and necks... Yours is beautiful, but I'm going to put a Tele-like black guard and trad Tele control plate on mine, and finish it in butterscotch. ;)

Jimi D - I couldn´t bring myself to put a pickguard over a one piece featherweight swamp ash body. I thought about it though. I just thought it would be cool to build this since I have wanted one for quite some time. It would probably be easier though to buy parts from someone but I built this one from scratch. And I couldn´t use a standard Tele control plate since I used Graph Tech´s Ghost piezo saddles. I did that so I could switch between this guitar and my Axis SS and still have all the options I am used to with the Axis SS. Add to that the Kinman pickups and you have a formula for great tone. And, for the first time in my guitar playing history, I can take two (ok three with my Sil Spl) guitars to a gig and I am covered. Any tone I need, I got it.  Well , there was this MM90 equipped guitar I needed, and a set-neck arch-top mahogany/maple -capped stop tailpiece version I wanted to build as well, and I am working on the 12 string semi-hollow one as we speak . . . . . . ahhh great guitars - you can never have too many. :D :D :D

translucent black really is beautiful..w/out being gawdy.
i'm modifying one of my morse guitars to a thin maple flamed top..w/ translucent black..and a prs wrap around bridge (mc carty)....w/ top mounted pickups....or mabey abolone pickguard if top routing becomes too difficult to get done.
mabey someday y'all will do some custom shop work......??????

Bring back the goldtop on the Axis. And for that matter, green would be nice as well. While we are at it, why not do an Axis Sport in natural (ash of course) with Tele pickups. You know, show the guys in Corona how a Tele should look, play and sound. It could look like this . . .

Skoorb, that guitar is way cool!!!

Thank you Butch. I kinda like it myself :) . The only thing that bothers me about it is the monochromatic look. I was going to do a "Mary Kay" or pickled white on it, but I decided that wood was too beautiful to hide under a translucent color. I may yet change my mind though and refinish it.

I think the Music Man R&D should have a look at that...that IS pretty cool. Maybe a pickguard to set it off? Not the MM round one, but more Tele shaped...?? I dunno

I think you're onto something here

Blue Dawn is seriously one of EB's coolest finishes ever. If it were still being used in production models i would have slapped down my cash for a Blue Dawn Petrucci for sure... but the Pearl Red is basically Blue Dawn done with red rather than blue. Mines still being made. I ordered mine from the House of Guitars in Rochester from the coolest sales guy named Curt. I had been talking with him and finally settled for the Petrucci. hey if you want just "mess up" at the factory and put the blue dawn on there hahah .. jk, please dont hurt my guitar hahaha .

God bless,

Tony

it really makes me pissed that EB discontinued so many cool finishes. I really dug the burnt apple and autumn burst as well as the white sparkle and the amazing blue dawn. why? cost? everything is just solid colors except the morse and the petrucci.

Yeah, that one is a bit odd, but I'm all for vintagey finishes.

I think my next AL will be tobacco or vintage sunburst, black pickguard, creme P-90's. Sort of a SRV vibe...

Aw heck! whats wrong with fiesta red?? Other than it being a tad on the feminine side. But I do change my mind about the cream pickguard though. A simple white will do just fine.
