If you were local (you're not, dang), I'd trade my Axis with you with the understanding that if you did not like it better, we could trade back. Perhaps someone on your coast would offer the same thing.

Big Poppa is right , but then again he does sell guitars for a living ...
If you have an extra $1,800 .00 for an Axis of course buy another music man , but whatever you do dont trade your old guitar in @ a music store ..

They will only give you half of what they can sell it for @ best ..

this right here is why the forum is so flippin cool! who else in the world would put such an offer on the table. You my friend are without a doubt a gentleman with an offer like that. Thank you... but with all of the advice of keeping it i think i'm going to go with the pickup swap first and see if i can heat it up a bit that way.

Do a bit of research on what pickups you might like and I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised with the difference. You will come back and say wtf was I thinking haha.
