Hey, I have a Music Man Sabre, I think it is a pre-EB, but I can't find anything on the serial #. I have looked everywhere that I can think of, so I am hoping one of you can help me out. The serial # is COO4419, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You can read "ErnieBall" on the headstock if it's an EBMM Sabre... ;)

From Gav's site: "C005830...Very early 1985 EB Sabre. Blue with Maple. White pg. Soapbar PUPs. 2 band EQ with slide switching. Old Pre-EB head stock logo with no mention of Ernie Ball. String retainer located on A and D strings. Pre-EB horse-shoe style bridge."

So evidently not all EB Sabres have Ernie Ball on the headstock.

Since this Sabre has the 3 toggle switches and pickups with exposed pole pieces, I'd say it is made before 1981 and thus clearly a pre-EB model.

You have a Pre-EB Sabre finished in "Walnut". The style of the pickups and toggle switch electronics indicates anywhere from very late 1978 to c.1983 as different pickups and switching were introduced after that. Serials are not necessarily chronological so it would be hard to pinpoint the exact year. But dates can be found on the neck heal and in the neck pocket on the body. To view them the neck would have to be removed. If you want to go to that extent but feel uncomfortable in doing so then your local guitar tech should be able to do this for a small fee.

Don't know about the rest of you, but whenever I hear Sabre, I can't help thinking about The Office, as in Sab-rey.

Sorry, I overlooked your Rosewood neck :(

Fretted Rosewood was introduced 1980. THat narrows the date to 1980-83
