Seeing that Silo with a Floyd makes me wonder if a SBMM Silo 30 could be outfitted with a floyd... hmm..... :D

To bring this thread back on topic...meaning appreciation of the Silo Special, I just took some better shots of mine. No offense to the Silhouette of course hehe.

I really really love this guitar. The 20th Silo and Y2D are also my two other loves, but I just have a really "special" bond with this one. I wish I could play them all at the same time lol. Enjoy the glory of this amazing color :).

It has the Fast Track 1 in the middle and a Cruiser (bridge model) in the neck...also have an Air Zone in the bridge position wired up with 500K pots. The Cruiser was inspiration from Andy Timmons and Fast Track 1 from Vinnie Moore. This really is a super strat with so many capabilities...insanely versatile. Oh, and of course the piezo :D.

It's very much like a single coil, but fatter with more output. The cleans sound beautiful, and leads are nice and tight, and give you that nice bite like a single coil would...but it sounds warmer which is what I like. Check out Timmons' videos, and you will see what I mean. Some people say it sounds sterile, but I dont think so. I also really like the FS1 in the middle for a nice crunchy rhythm tone, and it sounds AMAZING in parallel with the Cruiser on clean and also with the Air Zone with some dirt. It's just such a fun guitar with so many nice tones.

Now that is a sweet SS. I'm assuming that's Carbon Blue Pearl. Cool color.

Hey Roubster - beautiful guitar!!! How well does the trem on it stay in tune? Can you divebomb with it?

I can see now I'm going to have to save my pennies for a MM Silo or SS down the road.

Lumberjack, yes it is Carbon Blue indeed. My favorite solid pearl color EBMM ever offered to date.

edhalen, thanks! The trem stays in tune really well once the guitar is set-up properly. I have it set up to float slightly to get a natural vibrato for chords, and even when I do dive bombs it stays in tune. Of course if you want to abuse it all the time, you will have to tune it here and there. Other than that, it is very stable...but again, the key is really to have a good set-up.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering because I think my Silo 30 has the same type of tremolo on it. I took it in and had it set up where the tremolo doesn't float. I was having a terrible time keeping it in tune with anything more than very light trem use. The tech I took it to showed me a youtube video where this guy uses the trem along with the tuning pegs to get the guitar in tune. Tune a string, push down on the bar, release it, then check the string. Retune the string. Repeat this process until the string stays in tune after pushing down and releasing the bar. Then anytime it goes out of tune you hit the bar and it brings it back. Amazing that it works.
